    Welcome to the Hamswell Farm Cottages website. Here you can find out information about the cottages, view pictures and check the pricing over the coming season. Hamswell Farm is a 200 acre working sheep farm, only 5 miles from Bath city centre, and 10 minutes from the M4. Central London is less than 2 hours away and Bristol City centre can be reached in 20 minutes. It is in a secluded spot in the Cotswold area of outstanding natural beauty, and the Cotswold way passes through the farm. The farmstead has stood on this site for many centuries, the present farm house dating from the 1600s,but altered in 1805. The farm takes its name from a mediaeval well in our fields, which is the source of the Lam brook , which runs to the Avon at Bath, through the unspoilt Swainswick valley.

Apart from 600 sheep, we also keep purebred Dexter cattle, horses, and hens. Lamb, beef and eggs from the farm are available, and horse-riding can be arranged with lessons if required. The owners, Richard and Teresa Wharton, live onsite and are pleased to show you around or to answer queries. You are welcome to walk around the farm, but generally no dogs as this is a working sheep farm.

The 19th century stone barn was converted and well furnished a few years ago into two cottages, Ashley and Baytree. Each has full oil central heating, log burning stove, TV, video and CD stereo, and fully fitted kitchen including hob, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The two cottages share a washing and drying room, and extra freezer space is available on request. Water is supplied from our private well. Each bathroom has a power shower, bath, WC and basin. All electricity, oil, logs and use of towels and linen are included in the price. Cot, high chair and babysitting are available on request. The cottages overlook our garden with superb views across the valley beyond. Each has its own patio, with barbecue and garden furniture.
