June

FAST members pose before the program

The Officers organized an Independence Day celebration held in Daigaku Kaikan (University Hall) on June 12, 2002. The highlights of the activity included: lectures by Professor Leslie Bauzon and Professor Cherry Ballescas, visiting professors at Tsukuba University's Institute of Area Studies and Sociology Department, respectively; dance presentation of Curacha and Subli, publication of the program in the Philippine Daily Inquirer website, and singing of the National Anthem in "operatic form" by the Harana Boys. The group was very grateful to Al and Joey I. for teaching them how to sing well.

Jessica, Leony, Butch and Romy (these guys are now elevated to "Subli-experts" status!) perform the native dance "Subli."

The Officers also conducted an inventory of FAST Properties stored in Friends courtesy of Benny and Lyn Tutor on June 27.

Before the end of the month, a general assembly was again held on May 29. Included in the agenda were: post assessment of the Independence Day activity and FAST's mini-Olympics to be launched the following month. Greetings were also given to the June celebrants.
