One
Hour Photo ****1/2 Superb psychological thriller starring Robin Williams as a seemingly kind, lonely
man who works in the photo-processing plant of a large supermarket. Williams’ character Si yearns to belong to a loving
family. He has a dedication to his job and interest in "his customers" which goes into the realms of obsessive and disturbing
with regards to one family whose films he double develops in order to keep one set of prints mounted on the wall of his flat.
This is all kept under wraps until Si loses his job over "processing irregularities" and finds out that the husband in his
"perfect family" is having an affair upon which he goes over the edge with disastrous results. One Hour Photo is an excellent
film, superbly made with brilliant editing to heighten the tension. It also has a superb central performance from Williams
as a lonely man who is taken one step too far though, even after this has happened, one can’t help but feel
sorry for Si. A brilliant, "sensitive" psychological thriller. Seen by me: 2.10.04
