The Okinawan Akamata is very agressive. A baby Golden Habu. The high gold color will fade as it grows and will be a darker color. The Okinawan Golden Habus are plentiful on Okinawa, despite the fact that they are killed often by man and mongoose. You can find the Okinawan Tree-climbing Lizard all over Okinawa in the trees and brush.

The Okinawan Belted Gecko is very beautiful, but are illegal to take from the wildlife. This one was returned after I learned the Law. Notice the white and sometimes lite brown belts of color. Although the name says gecko, these actually fall under the species of Lizards. They have moveable eyelids and claws, making it impossible for them to climb smooth surfaces like a true gecko. This is an Okinawan Tree Gecko that was born from an egg while in captivity. There are many different species of tree and house gecko's on Okinawa. This is an Okinawan Mountain Turtle. They are also protected by Law and shouldn't be removed from the wild.

This is the common Green Tree Frog. Although they are seldom seen, they are thought to be plentiful in Okinawa. Notice the way they use the stomach to help them cling to smooth surfaces. This is also a very common Green Snake Lizard. Name due to there snakelike body and long tails. This is a Large Okinawan Skink. The baby skink is very beautiful, with a flourescent purple tail.

This is the Okinawan Hime Habu. It is considered to be less aggressive and less poisonous than the Golden Habu, but wouldn't suggest holding one. This is the Okinawan Scorpion. They are very small and found mostly on the outer islands. This is the only surviving  baby of 4 from a pair that were caught next to a stream bed in Iriomote Island. This is a local type of Taiwan Beauty Snake. This one was born from a wild female caught by a friend. He is one of 14 born. The are very fast and have to be handled very carefully as they will break many bones trying to escape.
