Although this plant is named the "Sarawak" Pineapple, it is not the native of Sarawak. This is a horticultural hybrid variety named after the state of Sarawak. There are however wild pineapple plants found in the jungles of Malaysia. The "Sarawak" Pineapple is popular for eating raw because it is juicy and sweet. The pulp is light yellow in colour.
