Pokok paku ini bukan paku sebenar tetapi ahli keluarganya. Ada banyak jenis paku ini dan nilai perubatannya berbedza mengikut spesisnya. Ada yang digunakan sebagai ubat batuk, sakit kerongkong, paru-paru lemah dan air dalam paru-paru. Satu spesis yang lain digunakan untuk merawat penyakit kuning dan hepatitis, dan satu lagi yang lain telah didaftar sebagai Decancerlin, untuk merawat penyakit cancer.

This is a fern allied and not a true fern. There are many species of Selaginella and their medical value defers from each species. Some are used to cure cough, sorethroat, weak lungs, bronchitis, and pneumonia while another is said to cure jaundice and hepatitis. Another species is patented as Decancerlin, a medicine for cancer treatment.
