Francis George Fosbery

1813 - 1897

of Blennerville & Curraghbridge

and latterly of Dublin

- He had nine daughters by his first wife -
then a tenth by his second,
who subsequently gave birth to his three sons

- Six of his ten daughters appear in this formal Victorian photograph taken in Dublin c.1877 -
The youngest, seated on the floor, being his daughter Ethel Mary - whose mother was his second wife, Margaret Anna

Eight, possibly all, of his first nine daughters emigrated to - New Zealand

Eleanor, Laura and Frances in 1866.
Mary-Augusta, Philippa and Sarah in 1870.
Eva and Emma in 1877 - in company with Mary-Augusta (Maunsell) and her family.

- In 1864 -
- Francis George married his second wife -
- Margaret Anna Carey -

At the time of her marriage Margaret was little older than some of her husband's daughters.
This caused some consternation in the Family and her standing was not enhanced when her first child was a tenth daughter for Francis!
However, following the birth of Ethel there came three sons in succession. At last!
