Category: Cookies & Candy
Servings: 3 dozen
Preparation Time:

Recipe Ingredients
3 cups sifted regular flour
1 cup of shortening.
2 eggs beaten and
1 cup of sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe Directions
Combine in a large bowl: 3 cups sifted regular flour and 1 cup of shortening. Mix with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture looks like coarse cornmeal.

Combine in another bowl: 2 eggs beaten and 1 cup of sugar. Beat until light with a mixer. Add 3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix until well blended. Add to flour mixture. Beat until smooth. Chill for 1 - 2 hours. Roll out, a section at a time to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
Cut with a floured cookie cutter into desired shapes. Place on greased cookie sheets (I never grease the cookie sheets, however, if you are using the stainless steel ones then you should grease them). Sprinkle with sugar or colored sugar sprinkles or decorate with
nuts, candied fruit or chocolate sprinkles. Bake at 350F for 8 - 10 minutes, or until cookies are a light golden brown.
