The Early Years Jeanette was born at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, California (actually in the Beverly-Wilshire District of Los Angeles but that's close enough) on February 16, 1978. Mom and dad tried to have her on Valentine's Day but that didn't quite happen. She attended Kindergarten and elementary school through the fourth grade at Wilton Place School in Los Angeles. It was always interesting at PTA meetings and other school events because, most of the time anyway, it was necessary to speak in English, then translate every thing twice, once in Korean and again in Spanish as many of the parents didn't speak or understand English very well. Wilton Place was a "culturally dynamic" school and therefore a unique learning time for Jeanette as well as for Mom and Dad. When the Studebakers move to Sacramento in December of 1988, Jeanette finished out fifth grade at Rio Linda Elementary School. She had some "adjustments" to make so it was a rough time. Things got better when Westside Elementary School was re-opened in the Fall of 1989. Jeanette spent her sixth grade school year at Westside. On To Junior High At Rio Linda Junior High School Jeanette found a "new thing" to occupied a lot of her time--music and school bands! It helps a lot when the band teacher has an enthusiastic point of view. Jeanette began playing the baritone saxophone in the seventh grade. Band concerts, competitions and the like became an everyday part of the entire Studebaker family. Seventh and eighth grades went pretty well for Jeanette. This was the beginning of the "band parents" era for Mom and Dad too. And Now She's A Knight? On to Rio Linda Senior High and more band activities. Still mostly playing the baritone sax with a bit of an attempt at alto saxophone, Jeanette continued her band experience. County competitions, regional competitions, marching band at football and basketball games, a bit of jazz band amongst other band related activities. Annual performances at ARCO Arena with all of the high school and junior high school bands and orchestras from the Sacramento area. Even one trip the University of California at Berkeley for the annual battle of the high school marching bands--wow! those were the busy times. Jeanette also attended American River College where her main interest continued in the band area and still playing the baritone sax. Unfortunately, she was not able to keep it up but did finish out the semester. The highlight of her college experience was a band trip to Hawaii. Yes, that's right Hawaii! The American River College concert band performed in Hawaii as part of an exchange program. They spent a week in paradise. An interesting but expensive experience. On to the present . . . and beyond! My how time flies! Here it is 2002 and I just realized that this bio is way out of date! I'll just skip to the big event rather than waste time "in the gray zone" between the ARC years and the present. The big event I'm talking about is, as with most females of the species, their marriage. Yes, it's hard to believe, but Jeanette found her true love. His name is Ryan Peter and he's a native "Rio Lindan". Jeanette and Ryan were married in Reno, Nevada at the same chapel where Carl and Marie were married nearly 29 years ago! Coincidence or on purpose it really happened. There's a picture of the new husband and wife to the left. For more pictures click here. (to be continued) |
