In other words, JACOB was a thief and a liar.
[John 8] 39"Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would 40 do the things Abraham did. As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41You are doing the things your own father does."

42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Esau was a natural man. He liked to hunt. His priorities were honest. He was free and strong. He implicitly trusted his brother Jacob. Esau went, out of the love for his father, to make his father's favorite meal. While Esau was out doing an honest day's work, Jacob conspired with his mother to cheat and deceive Isaac out of his rightful blessing.
Edom's later attitude and treatment of Israel were born from the heart-felt injustices that had been done to Esau. That Jacob (Israel) had cheated Esau out of what was rightfully his and his descendents.
Later on, Jacob had to come to Esau. Jacob thought Esau was going to kill him, yet Esau was MERCIFUL! Mercy is a gift of the Holy Spirit.
God is good. How could He sanction lying and cheating? Something is very wrong with this picture.
What this means is: the law was from the devil. In the book of Romans, Paul calls it the "law of sin". Because all it does is illuminate how sinful we are.
[Hebrews 7] 18The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19(for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
No one has been saved by keeping the law. Some people think the law is the 10 Commandments. In reality there are something like 635 commandments throughout the first five books of scripture.
Along with all those, the leaders of Israel started to add even more laws. The leaders of Israel made it virtually impossible for anyone to perfectly keep the requirements of God.

The region of Mt. Seir is identified as the homeland of Esau's. Bethlehem is right on the border with Edom. Being so very close to the homeland of Esau, it can be seen a child could be named after the region he grew up in.

The nature of sin is DOMINATION.
Latin for LORD is "Domini". [Matthew 3] 15Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented.

Lord Jesus is the LAW.
LORD represents the domination of SIN - "SIN" means ABSOLUTE TRUTH. God is absolute truth. The Law of SIN(AI).
EDOM. Edom represents all that went wrong with Israel. EDOM to the Jewish mind is synonymous with idolatry.
Jesus came to set Israel free of her sin. That is why the name of the Lord means FREE (yesha)+STRONG (uz)=SAVIOR.
[2 Corinthians 5] 21God made him who had no sin to be SIN for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Though His name is good, His name to Israel represents all the sin she has ever committed: (J)ESAU(S) of (E)DOM = Jesus Lord (Romans 10:9). That is why it is so very hard for Israel to accept Him.
That is why, until Israel confesses Him, they will never be free & strong - saved.
The troubles of Israel began when Jacob (Israel) lied, cheated, and robbed the blessings of God from the FIRST BORN SON - ESAU. The guilt of Israel rests on that one evil deed. Their freedom and salvation rest on confessing JESUS IS LORD: THE FIRST BORN SON.
Truly looking at Jesus our sin is revealed. Our hearts are naked before Him. To face Him is to face our sin. True evil is to leave sin un-confessed to God. To face Jesus is to face Shiva Asar B'Tammuz.
The purpose of the fast of "Shiva Asar B'Tammuz" in the Jewish calendar is, according to Rabbi Eliyahu Kitov's BOOK OF OUR HERITAGE, "to awaken hearts towards repentance through recalling our forefathers' misdeeds; misdeeds which led to calamities..."
That is EXACTLY what IESUE is all about!

When Jesus died on the cross - SIN DIED. Sin died and all the requirements of the LAW. In BAPTISM we are made dead to the LAW and SIN. We are made free & strong in the risen Lord Jesus.

Many have testified in death and near death experiences, the good person is greeted by a loving relative or friend who escorts them into the light. Those of questionable integrity testify to terrifying experiences.
