Friends of Evansburg
Work Day Report
April 24, 1999

Earth Day at Evansburg State Park was celebrated on Saturday, April 24. In keeping with tradition, volunteers did maintenance projects, then met for lunch, cooked and served by the park employees.

The Friends of Evansburg worked on the Lesher Farm trail. This trail had partially collapsed into the creek. It is a combined hiking and horse trail. Our project was to create a new trail, 10 feet away from the creek. In the process, we moved all the logs and brush, etc. from the new trail on to the old trail to help it recover. We get to 1) improve safety 2) increase the riparian buffer to protect water quality 3) start and finish a project on the same day 4) benefit more than one user group. So, it was a very worthy project!

Thus Earth Day was a complete success. Our project was accomplished adeptly.
