*2008 Old Vine Zinfandel Oak Ridge Winery
OZV shows a fairly dark ruby color in the glass, with a nose of big, bold raspberry, strawberry and cherry aromas. There's a hint of earthiness that grew each night the bottle was open, becoming a little darker and more tar-like over three nights. The nose is so big and fruity, it's almost candylike, with a huge play of anise like you'd find in black licorice. The complexity continues with a touch of chocolate aroma layered underneath. The palate sports earthy brambles and a hint of coffee on the finish. The wine is very smooth and silky, with fine tannins and a bright, lively acidity that makes for a juicy and lip-smacking experience. It's a great tasting, smooth drinking wine. Pair with rosemary pork chops or a smoked ham.

2007 Tempranillo - Thurston Wolfe Winery Thurston Wolfe Winery
Our 2007 TEMPRANILLO is the second vintage of the best known of the Spanish red varieties grown throughout the Rioja region of northern Spain. This release is a blend of TEMPRENILLO grapes (86%) from Destiny Ridge vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills and SYRAH grapes (14%) from Thurston Wolfe's estate vineyard in the Yakima Valley. Both varieties were picked on October 1st at 25.6 Brix and cofermented in a small open top fermenter. After pressing, it was immediately transferred to barrels for malo-lactic fermentation. Following aging for 15 months in 50% new American oak, it was bottled in February 2009 and released May 2009. This variety is known for its delicate spicy aroma and soft tannins that are complimented by a moderate amount of oak. Only 100 cases produced and sold exclusively at the winery.

Artemisia is Latin for "sagebrush" - so abundant in our dry shrub steppe landscape. A bottle of Artemisia paired with juicy rib eye steaks for two will be delicious.

Beer list:

Irish Death Stout - Iron Horse Brewery, Ellensburg WA Irish Death Stout
Created by the brewery's founder, Quilter's Irish Death is what we call a dark, smooth, ale. Any attempt at classifying it just ends up sending beer geeks into a style guidelines diatribe. So forget style guidelines. Is your pursuit of micro beer about tasting copies of a style that fit guidelines anyways? (Neither is ours) Irish Death is a malt bomb. We lovingly refer to it as beer candy. We heart our candy store. While tempting to session this beer, the name is a necessary reminder that despite the surprising approachability, this beer weighs in at a hefty 7.8% ABV.
