From being a coalition of middle class women, Gabriela now finds its
base among grassroots women, the peasants, workers and urban poor, the
most oppressed and marginalized. Together, 250 women's organizations fall
under Gabriela's mantle.

a national federation of peasant women that primarily takes up the
issues of genuine agrarian reform and the right of peasant women to
own land. |
Kilusan
ng Manggagawang Kababaihan (KMK) - Women Workers'
Movement |

a movement uniting women workers in their struggle for wages and
other issues such as discrimination and wiolations of women's rights
in the workplace. KMK initiates the formation of women's committees
in trade unions and workers' federations and links up with the Kiulusang
Mayo Uno (KMU) or the May First Movement. |
Samahan
ng Malayang Kababaihan (SAMAKANA) - Association
of United and Free Women |

A nationwide federation of women from urban poor communities struggling
against the adverse consequences of national economic policies on
women, focusing on poverty, inflation, homelessness, unemployment
and the lack of social services confronting urban poor communities.
SAMAKANA also conducts education on various issues confronting urban
poor women and leads community actions against domestic violence.

An alliance of indigenous women's organizations in the Cordilleras,
Northern Philippines. It was formed to unite and forward the struggle
for the rights of indigenous women to their ancestral domain and against
development aggression.
Membership is open primarily to groups, organizations, institutions
or their program desks. Individuals will also be accepted provided
they join a committee or network of coalition.
