| On January 22nd, 2019,
at the beginning of the New Year, the Topps company started to release another
installment of their exclusive online brand of Garbage Pail Kids cards
and product as specialized and limited items. This marks their fourth consecutive
year to offer a slew of unique online material to the masses inbetween their larger
retail releases that tends to cater to a much smaller niche of collectors. Although
artist Joe Simko retired from most of the online releases in 2017, his work could
still be found within the major retail releases and certain online sets in 2018,
and is back in full force and form for 2019 online releases. Although a few products
began to post to Topps Online in 2013 and 2014, the alternate point-of-sale didn't
hit its stride until 2016 posting daily, 24-hour items and monthly releases. |

THE ARTIST RECOGNITION EDITION
| 1.
The GPK Coloring Book, titled The ABC's
to GPK, was conceptualized by artist NEIL Camera and the Topps NPD Dept. and
was a limited online product from January 22nd through February 5th. The twenty-six
page book, for the 26 A-Z letters and characters, sold for $9.99 and came with
a random bonus sticker, titled 'A is for ADAM', with either a green, pink or gold
parallel border and letter outline. Although the 'adult coloring book' has been
popular for many years and the concept of a GPK coloring book has been
tossed around before, in-house and fan-created, this is the first official release.
The cover and card artwork was created by veteran GPK artist JOHN Pound and the
line artwork within was rendered by NEIL Camera from previous artwork created
by JOHN Pound, TOM Bunk, et cetera. Although the online sale ran for two weeks,
the 1000 copies sold out several days in advance and the posting stated: Out of
Stock. Some unlucky collectors received the 2015 30th Anniversary B1a MARIE
Baguette binder exclusive card instead of the 'A for ADAM' card. Email

The GPK Valentine's Day is Gross set was released
online from February 14th through February 21st and received a 'COMING
SOON!' email ad the day prior on February 13th from Topps and was pictured
and announced within a GPK filmed interview of artist JOE Simko and write-up by
Inside Editions. The set consisted of ten A + B-name characters, along with three
green parallels, one pink parallel, a C-name card, and a one-in-two chance of
coming across a sketch card — for a total of 25 cards, or 26 if you lucked
out. The release welcomed back reverse card artwork, a set checklist, numbered
front and the nostalgic PEEL HERE arrow. For the mock-up
image, the PEEL HERE arrow points toward the character,
but was changed to pointing to the edge of the card for the final release. The
A-name and C-name reverse card backs have the Wanted poster images and the B-name
card backs contain the 9-piece puzzle and checklist cards.  |

Awards ceremony known as 'The Oscars' that aired on February 24th, was released
online from February 21st through February 28th and unannounced prior to its release.
However, an email from Topps was circulated on the day of its release. The set
consisted of six A + B-name characters for a total of twelve cards, all painted

The WWE x GPK parody set, stemmed from a pre-existing license that Topps
had with WWE that expanded into a 13-card online set at the suggestion of artist
JOE Simko and higher-ups at Topps; five exclusive t-shirts could be found on the
WWE Shop and six exclusive solo-character t-shirts were located at Spencer's.
A Spencer's combo T-shirt was announced the week of the release containing four
WWE personalities; a fleece blanket in the same design could be found months later.
The final artwork by JOE Simko and BRENT Engstrom was intended for T-shirt treatment
only and the artwork was electronically delivered without a background; Topps
added their own for the card images. Check out the 'GPK Licenses' page for all

Junction, the blanket, and Chalk Line Apparel's jacket. The WWE announcement: New WWE collaboration with the Garbage Pail Kids. The Scratch & Stink set was released online on June 28, 2019 and sold
for one week until July 5th, 2019. The set included ten different scratch-and-sniff
parody A+B card characters portraying ten different stinky smells, however, only
a subset of ten cards contained the actual SnS treatment. The set sold for $40
and also included 1 SnS card, 2 random green parallel cards, 1 random pink parallel
card and a 1:2 chance of a sketch card. A total variation set would contain 71
cards (20 set + 20 green + 20 pink + 10 SnS cards + sketch card sample). Artist
JOE Simko wasn't able to complete the sketch cards as a 'final artwork' artist
and other GPK sketch card artists picked up the extra work along with the regular
GPK artists; BRENT Engstrom, DAVID Gross, NEIL Camera, Smokin' JOE McWilliams,
B. Nygma, Floydman, JON Gregory, Acevedo, Scheres, Molinelli, Skubis, Toofless,
etc. The original due date for final artwork was June 03, 2019 (Mon), but it was
moved to June 05, 2019 (Wed). 
 The card backs reintroduced the wonderful 'AWARD' certificates from the OS2 GPK set. The backside for both of McWilliams and Engstrom's cards were switched, containing the other artist's card backs, and two signatures appear to be swapped. Below is a card mock-up with a rough concept sketch by artist JOE Simko and the printed card mock-up with the final artwork. The second tight sketch by Simko, which can be seen within the 'ART Gallery' section, is a cute tribute to his destructive 3yo son Zy. |

The GPK x NYC Takeover set was debuted at the 2019
NYCC from October 3rd through the 6th. The 26-card On Demand set #18 contained
1-10 A-names and 1-10 B-names, 3 green parallels cards, 2 pink parallel cards,
(1:2 chance at?) 1 C-name card or a 1:2 chance at a sketch card; 26 cards for
$40. The set also came accompanied with an exclusive NAT Nerd NYCC promo card.
The set, minus the exclusive bonus card, went on sale on Topps.com on Oct 7, 2019
for seven days until Oct, 14, 2019. The entire NYC-themed set was painted by NYC
artist Joe Simko who kindly placed 'GPK World' on the helicopter as a shout-out
to this website for cards 3a, 3b and 3c. The backside contains three completed
puzzles and three different checklists. Product information: Each Pack contains
(20) 2.5"x3.5" stickers + 6 parallel cards per set + 1:2 chance at a
sketch card per set! The sketch cards artists included John Brewer, Neil Camera,

Two of artist Brent Engstrom's concepts were changed: OS1 character for cards
28a Oozy SUZY and 28b Meltin' MELISSA was changed to ADAM Bomb, and the ADAM Bomb
'Boxing Day' concept was changed to the Hanukkah Menorah. The sketch cards artists

puzzles for characters from cards #2 and #7, and snowflake parallels complete
puzzle for characters from cards #6 and #10. No puzzle characters for cards #3

Starting on December 2nd, Topps released their 2019 Was
the Worst ongoing online series GPK set. Card singles were released daily
and on sale for 24 hours only; $7.99 for 1 sticker, $20.00 for 5 stickers, $37.00
for 10 stickers or $67.00 for 20 stickers. The website stated: "Celebrate
some of this years wackiest moments with the your favorite Garbage Pail Kids characters.
Stay tuned each day for a new moment from 2019!" Their email stated: "Check
back daily for new cards! Available 24 hours only!" The artwork was created
by Joe Simko, Brent Engstrom, David Gross, Smokin' Joe McWilliams and Neil Camera
and released throughout the remaining days of 2019. NOTE:
Card #6 KAT Fight was initially titled 'MIMI Meme' when posted online. Card #7
