| On January
22nd, 2020, at the beginning of the New Year, the Topps company started to release
another installment of their exclusive online brand of Garbage Pail Kids cards
and product as specialized and limited items. This marks their fifth consecutive
year offering a slew of unique online material to the masses, in between their
larger retail releases that tends to cater to a much smaller niche of hardcore
collectors. Although a few products began
to post to Topps Online in 2013 and 2014, the alternative point-of-sale didn't
hit its stride until 2016 posting daily, 24-hour items, holidays, award events,
and monthly releases. By 2019, it was a common form of collecting.
A Black Lives Matter poster was created for charity and painted by artist Joe
Simko, but never released. "The Topps Company, with a stable of legendary underground cartoonists created Garbage Pail Kids in 1985. The gross-out humor and subversive attitude appealed to the kids of the time and quickly became a massive success. As the Garbage Pail Kids’ notoriety grew, so too did their popularity on the playground. School administrators banning Garbage Pail Kids from school grounds further fueled their demand for more than a dozen additional card series. This pop-culture phenomenon inspired plenty of tie-in items as toy and novelty stores experienced a wave of merchandise that included t-shirts, school folders, sticker albums, jewelry, key chains, and yes actual garbage pails. Today, that list of GPK merchandise has expanded to partnerships with Funko, FYE, Santa Cruz, Chalk Line, Geeki Tikis, WWE, Netflix, and more! & Mrs. set was released online from February 13 to Feb 20, 2020 and
covered the Valentine's Day holiday. The 26-card On Demand set #3 contained 1-10
A-names and 1-10 B-names, 3 green hearts parallels cards, 2 red hearts parallel
cards, 1 black hearts parallel card, 1 5x7 folded poster, and a 1:2 chance at
a sketch card; all for a $40 price tag. Description: "It's time for your
favorite GPK characters to shack up and meet their soul mates. Ten Series One
characters will be shown with their male or female counter part. We will let the
fans decide who the true power couple of series 1 is". The cards could
be found under the 'Love at First Spite' GPK category. — There are a total of eight character puzzles to complete per A-name and B-name cards: the base set cards complete characters from cards #1 and #4, the green parallels complete characters from cards #2 and #10, the red parallels complete puzzles for characters from cards #6 and #7, and black parallels complete puzzle for characters from cards #5 and #8. Series Sticker Set #3 onto the Topps Shop on April 1, 2020 along with the
sixth video from Jam Roll Studios for the Topps Now line; the sale ran for 30
days with each pack of five cards running $9.99 each. The video was animated by
ALEX Kropinak ("Up All Night"), co- written by JOE Simko, music by DR.CHUD,
and based off of the infectious GPK Funko POP characters. The set contains one
of the new 'GPK 35' logos and the description stated: "Keep rocking on with

released their GPK Kitchen card set online
for one week only from May 14 to May 21, 2020 and cost $19.99 per eleven-card
set, or $179.99 for ten bulk sets. Each set included one B-name bonus
card for a 20-card set in total. The digital artwork with stock photos
displayed various emojied food items and are not necesarilly considered
'Kids', per se. The Topps Shop stated: "Includes 11 Stickers! One
B Name per set! Welcome to the GPK Family Kitchen. Where all your favorite
foods comes to life. Our special chef Robert Jimenez has prepared these
wonderfully Gross dishes for your enjoyment."
On Monday, February 16, 2026, almost six years after the release, artist Robert Jimenez responded to a Facebook post that had reminisced about the GPK Kitchen release, where collectors were hoping to be filled in on some history on the set, stating, "Not much of a story to it, but I had lunch one day and was eating a banana and as I held it in my hand I envisioned Banana Anna. So I snapped a photo of it and worked on it in Photoshop. When I was done, I sent it off to Francis, at Topps, and he found it hysterical and asked if I'd be able to do more of them. At first it was going to be just recreations of GPKs, but it morphed into a food set." |

| 20. Topps released their GPK Trashy Treasures Series I figurines on 06/18/2020 with five different characters to choose from that ran $19.99 each and included a sticker card. Master sculpts by artist Patrick Pigott. On June 17, 2020 they shared a sneak peek image of the five characters to social media, simply saying: "The gang gears up to arrive in figurine form..." and per a later daily email blast they stated, "Bring your Garbage Pail Kids collection to life with all new GPK Trashy Treasure Figurines from Topps! Collect all five classic character figurines featuring Adam Bomb, Leaky Lindsay, Corroded Carl, New Wave Dave, and Richie Retch. Look for rare parallels including red, green, black, an all-silver variation and the ultra-rare 1-of-1 all-gold variation." The rare gold variant was shown on social media stating: "Ultra-rare 1-of-1 all-gold variation... [exploding head emoji] GPK Trashy Treasure Figurines are coming soon." Topps social media also promoted the product on June 22, 2020 and stated, "From Leaky Lindsay to Corroded Carl, the GPK gang is here as none other than Trashy Treasures! Look for rare parallels including red, green, black, an all-silver variation and the ultra-rare 1-of-1 all-gold variation." The card backs match the packaging color for each individual character and both products only contain the GPK acronym for the 35th Anniversary header; registered as a trademark in 2015. Once the figurines went LIVE on June 18, 2020, further information for the size/measurements and variant ratios were provided: "GPK Trashy Treasure Figurines each come with a collectible card are made of resin and measure 3 ¼” tall (Adam Bomb measures 4 ½” tall)" and "Look for color variations! • Red Figurines – 1:5 boxes • Green Figurines – 1:10 boxes • Black Figurines – 1:25 boxes • Silver Figurines – 1:100 boxes • Gold Figurines – 1-of-1, 1:500 boxes • Figurines are 3.35" tall." Topps released a special GPK 35
Years of Untold Stories On-Demand set (#10) online for one week only from
June 29 to July 6, 2020 and cost $40.00 per 'pack', however, the product of 2,015
packs 'SOLD OUT' in under 8 hours the on very first day. Each 26-card 'set' contained
24 story cards plus 2 inserts, either an 80s Style Skateboard Deck card (1:5)
with digital artwork by RORY McQueen, or a Cover Story card (1:7) with artwork
by BRENT Engstrom and NEIL Camera. The comic stories were written by art director
GPK alumni COLIN Walton whom was involved with previous online GPK comic books
releases as well as the IDW publications. There was also a chance to score a Sketch
Card (1:2) and a Premium Sketch Box (1:100) per every 'pack' purchased. The Topps
Shop and social media posts stated, "This year we are celebrating 35 years
of untold stories about some of your favorite GPK characters. Each story will
be told in classic comic style story and are sketched and colored by some of your
favorite GPK artists. We are also offering for the first time fully painted /
sketch boxes. These original 1 of a kind art boxes will look amazing in any GPK

to publish their bi-annual 'SPECIAL EDITION' publication -- usually handed out
at SDCC and NYCC; per Issuu-dot-com on July 30, 2020 and DenofGeek-dot-com social

Topps
collaborated with eBay Inc., the online auction website, to release a GPK
x eBay Crossover set sold exclusively via the e-commerce shopping website
through the Topps Vault seller ID and a launch page was set up for the one-week
event. The limited 10-card set, five characters with an A-name and B-name, was
sold from August 10 through August 17, 2020, with a price tag of $19.99 each.
Per artist JOE Simko via social media on July 31, 2020: "I wrote and painted
a series of cards that will be available Aug. 10th exclusively on eBay."
Although it's a Topps auction, partial sales go to eBay per the crossover
collaboration. NOTE:
Some collectors received sets with character #2, 'Messy TESSI' printed as nomenclature
for both cards, 2a and 2b, for the A-name and B-name. NOTE:
Per JUNE Gonzales for card #1: "That baby shark was originally a baby popping
out of the box. So it was E-Baby, but one of the bosses said it wasn't right for

a 40th anniversary set titled Crash Gordon, a parody
of the 1980 'Flash Gordon' space-opera movie, that sold for one week only from
August 13 to August 20, 2020, and cost $19.99 per ten-card set, or $179.99 for
ten bulk sets. The online Topps product description stated: "Crash AAAHHH
AAAHH Disaster of the Universe?? Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cult classic
Flash Gordon with your favorite characters the Garbage Pail Kids." A digital
set was released by WAX Blockchain on August 28, 2020, for the Topps DigiCon 2020;

Pail Krashers On-Demand set online for one week only from August 27 to
September 3, 2020, that cost $40 per 21-card set, plus 4 chase cards, 1 poster,

YouTube sensation ANDYMATION released a signed GPK
card for $5.00 on September 15, 2020. Per website shop: "The official Andymation
Garbage Pail Kids card from Topps! I
recently collaborated with Topps on a flipbook project based around the wildly
popular 1980s collectible card series, the Garbage Pail Kids. The original painting
for this card was created by the incredible Joe Simko, one of the current GPK
artists. 1500 cards were made. Each is signed by me. Each
card includes a plastic top loader sleeve. Limit
2 per household. This card will be available to order on approximately Sept 15."

Topps released a GPK Skateboard
Stickers card set online for one week only from September 17 to September
24, 2020, that cost $19.99 per eleven-card set, or $179.99 for ten bulk sets.
The ten cards displayed rendered artwork gags of classic GPK characters portrayed
as skateboard-deck decals. The digital artwork was created by artist RORY McQueen,
who also worked on similar artwork for the "Untold Stories" comic-card
release. These would have looked great as die-cut stickers. The Topps Shop simply
stated: "Time to update your skateboard with some cool new GPK Stickers!
Includes 10 Stickers!" The day before, Topps dropped a teaser on September
16 and said: "Tomorrow, a brand new batch of GPK stickers is dropping in!" |

UNPUBLISHED.
With their license for Stranger Things, Topps received approval
from Netflix to create a Stranger Kids GPK parody set to release at
the New York Comic Con from October 4th through the 7th, 2018. The release,
containing twenty cards from the A-name set and twenty cards from the
B-name set, was also sold online through their website; The NYCC also
contained four exclusive cards, three Upside Down cards. A poster advert
(pictured below) for the release was shared to their social media channels
on October 1st, 2018 to promote the release. Artist Joe Simko re-watched
seasons 1 and 2 of Stranger Things on Neflix prior to starting the project.
 NOTE: Four toy figures were released by The Loyal Subjects in 2022, based off of the online release, for cards #3a Devoted DUSTIN, #7a Demo GORDON, #9a Stylin' STEVE, and #11b Waff ELLE, containing new card images with the 'GPK' acronym logo.

Simko had previously mentioned a second Stranger Kids set, based off of the 4th season, that was conceptualized and painted, but never released in 2020 (Simko later shared several mock-up card images for this release on his social media channels at the end of 2025, seen above)... images from this release were supposed to be used for The Loyal Subjects toy figures, but characters from the 2018 Stranger Kids set were used instead. A second wave of The Loyal Subjects was also supposed to be released, but never materialized. A third Stranger Kids set is allegedly in the works as of October 2025, but is not based off of the 5th season, but ordinary concepts based off of the entire brand. Topps released a GPK Halloween
Stories 'set' that sold for one week only from October 22 to October 29,
2020, and cost $19.99 per 22-card set 'pack', or $179.99 for ten bulk sets. Unlike
the similar comic cards 'Untold Stories' set sold in late June, the release was
not On Deman and was smaller in size and cost, but also had less chase material.
Like the previous release, you had to purchase multiple 'packs' in order to complete
the 68-card + sticker set. The Topps Shop simply stated, "Mischief Night
is upon us and the kids are out looking for candy. I wonder what kind of mischief
they will get into this Halloween." & "Look for randomly inserted
Story sketch cards!" Artists included Neil Camera, Lowell Isaac, and Chris
Meeks for the release. Each comic panel had a base card and sticker card, with
a possibility of a sketch card. |

Topps released a GPK Rock 'n' Roll Hall
of Lame card set online for one week only from November 12 to November
19, 2020, that cost $19.99 per twelve-card set, or $179.99 for ten bulk sets.
The Hall of Fame parody set covered the six Class of 2020 inductees which included:
Nine Inch Nails (NIN; Trent Reznor), Depeche Mode (members Dave Gahan and Martin
Gore), The Doobie Brothers, The Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston, and T.Rex.
The Topps Shop had no description for the self-explanatory set, but took to social
media the following Monday and stated, "Start your Monday on groovy note
with our latest Garbage Pail Kids set! Rock out to the tunes of Swampy Simmons,
Nine Inch Neil, Depeche Dave and more in GPK's Rock 'N Roll Hall of Lame!"
Card no.2 originally had an OS2 tribute concept that Topps pushed back on; Engstrom
figured a king's robe would be 'fitting'. Card no.5 was originally painted in
color upon completion and then changed to B&W (by June Gonzales) upon Simko's
request to go along with the B&W 'Enjoy the Silence' aesthetic; Topps agreed
and also gave the card a B&W theme. Both images can be seen within the final
artwork page. |

Topps released their GPK
Trashy Treasures Series 2 figurines on 11/19/2020
with five new characters to choose from that ran $19.99 each and included a sticker
card. Master sculpts by artist Patrick Pigott. The first sneak peek of the NAT
Nerd character occured during the virtial Topps panel on October 16, 2020 at the
virtual Philly Non-Sport Card Show. On November 18, 2020 Topps shared an image
a second character, Slit KIT, via email blast, simply stating: "Coming Tomorrow!
GPK Trashy Treasures Figurines" and a second daily email, early Thursday
morning, stating: "Coming Later Today! GPK Trashy Treasures Figurines"
The card backs match the packaging color for each individual character and both
products only contain the GPK acronym for the 35th Anniversary header; registered
as a trademark in 2015. The Topps website stated: "1 GPK Trashy Treasures Series 2 Figurine + 1 Collectible Sticker Card. GPK Trashy Treasure Figurine from Topps are back with Series 2 featuring all new characters! Collect all five classic character figurines featuring Double Heather, Brainy Janey, Peeled Paul, Split Kit, and Nat Nerd. Look for rare parallels including red, green, black, an all-silver variation and the ultra-rare 1-of-1 all-gold variation. GPK Trashy Treasure Figurines Series 2 each come with a collectible card are made of resin and measure 3 ¼ - 3 ½ ” tall (Brainy Janey and her computer are two separate pieces) Look for color variations! • Red Figurines – Most Common • Green Figurines – Common • Black Figurines – Rare • Silver Figurines – Very Rare • Gold Figurines – 1-of-1 • Figurines are 3.35" tall." Topps released a 2020 GPK Sapphire
Edition: Online Exclusive box, that included 32 trading cards featuring
artwork from the OS1 and OS2 sets, on December 08, 2020, costing $50, one per
customer. The limited supplies sold out in less than an hour. The box was initially
offered to Topps 582 Montgomery members via their 'early access' membership perk
on December 07, 2020, also with a one-per-person limitation. Boxes sold for upwards
of $500 on the secondary market. The description simply stated, "32 cards
per box. Look for Color Parallels!" The release included a plethora of parallel
border colors including blue, green, orange, gold, purple, red and 'padparadscha'.
NOTE: A pink parallel was sent out to collectors
in August 2021 that submitted missing hits claims; the cards are unnumbered with

Was the Worst! — Week 1 (of 2) card set online for one week only from
December 10 to December 17, 2020, that cost $19.99 per ten-card set, or $179.99
for ten bulk sets. The online Topps Shop description for the set simply stated,
"Includes 10 Stickers! Celebrate some of this years wackiest moments with
the your favorite Garbage Pail Kids characters." Their social media post
mentioned, "From murder hornets to Zoom meetings... 2020 was the WORST! Celebrate
the best of the worst with our newest Garbage Pail Kids set 2020 Was The Worst."
The parody set poked fun at such 2020 hot topics such as the COVID flu, murder
hornets, Zoom meetings, TV production delays and show cancelations, and being
glued to social media and UFO sightings. |
