| At
the beginning of the new year, starting in February, the Topps company continued
to release another installment of their exclusive online brand of Garbage Pail
Kids cards and product as specialized and limited items, under the tutelage of
the Fanatics group, the new owners. This marks their seventh consecutive year
offering a slew of unique online material to the masses, in between their larger
retail releases, that tends to cater to a much smaller niche of hardcore collectors.
No 2022 GPK Collectors Club was ever announced or released; but shelved and cancelled. "The Topps Company, with a stable of legendary underground cartoonists created Garbage Pail Kids in 1985. The gross-out humor and subversive attitude appealed to the kids of the time and quickly became a massive success. As the Garbage Pail Kids’ notoriety grew, so too did their popularity on the playground. School administrators banning Garbage Pail Kids from school grounds further fueled their demand for more than a dozen additional card series. This pop-culture phenomenon inspired plenty of tie-in items as toy and novelty stores experienced a wave of merchandise that included t-shirts, school folders, sticker albums, jewelry, key chains, and yes actual garbage pails. The first online Garbage Pail Kids set planned by Topps for the new year was for
the second installment of the GPK Collectors Club
membership, for the 2022 calendar year. As with the 2021 membership, the 'Limited
Membership Availability!' set would have cost around $200.00 and most likely
have the same 1000 membership print run number as the previous year, but this
is mere speculation. With their 'rinse and repeat' pattern, the membership would
most likely have been very similar to the set content and release periods, re-listed
further below, but with (most likely) different bonus-gift items as the 2021 had.  NOTE: POSTER & LOGO ARTWORK BY ARTIST JOE SIMKO The 2022 GPK Collectors Club never got past pre-production before the project was cancelled, however, several concepts for the 4-card sticker set was in development and characters for the first set release, eventually turned in for approval, and the poster image was completed (pictured above), showcasing the four new GPK character 'charter members' for the shelved release. The first 20-card sticker set, intended for March, would have centered around the OS4 Alien IAN character as the President charter member (images below). The new membership card and 2022 logo would have also contained the OS4 Outerspace CHASE character, as seen within the poster image.

Topps released a 2022 "On-Demand" holiday set, GPK Valentine's
Day: Disgusting Dating online for one week only, from February 10 to February
17, 2022, that cost $40.00 per twenty-seven card set. The set is composed of tribute
artwork of Original Series characters. Within their set 'Description' section,
the Topps Shop stated: "Why not give the love of your life something they
will truly be sick over? We have the perfect, most disgusting Valentine Day stickers
for all the people in your life! 27

Stickers (including checklist), 2

Topps released a 2022 GPK x Complexland Skateboard
Stickers Deck crossover set, by artist Rory McQueen, online for one week only
from May 25 to June 01, 2022 and cost $19.99 per ten-card set + parallel. Within
their set 'For ComplexLand 2022, Topps has teamed up with artist Rory McQueen
to create a can’t-miss set of unique Garbage Pail Kids Skateboard stickers!"
Product information: each set contains (11) 2.5"x3.5" sticker cards
- (10) Base Sticker Cards PLUS (1) alternate color, B-name variant per pack. On
May 13, Complexland took to social media and stated, "TOPPS x ComplexLand,

Artist Rory McQueen posted to social media several times leading up to the release,

Topps released several GPK We Hate the 80s: Expansion Sets,
Week #1 through Week #6, online for six weeks. Each set sold for one week only
and cost $19.99 per eleven-card set or +$160 for 10 sets ($179.99). The sets are
mini expansion sets to the regular 2018S1 retail release. Within their set 'Description'
section, the Topps Shop stated: "This
Spring, Topps and Garbage Pail Kids are taking it back a few decades with a 80s
themed 10-card set: We Hate the 80s. Look for some of your favorite, and least
favorite, 80s trends and fads come to life in classic Garbage Pail Kids style.
A new set will launch every Thursday for the next 6 weeks, exclusively on Topps.com.

Topps released a special GPK x Clash of Clans set,
based off of the popular Clash of Clans mobile game, online for one week, from
Friday, July 29 through August 5, 2022. Each set sold for $29.99 per twentyone-card
set or +$239.99 for 10 sets ($269.98). Per website, within their set 'Description'
section, the Topps Shop stated: "2022
Topps Garbage Pail Kids X Clash of Clans Set. Way back when, Garbage Pail Kids
released Clash packs, some of their most coveted and collectible packs based on
'Clash,' the original Clash of Clans game. For a limited time only, these babies
are back! Sold as a complete, 20-sticker set, with one parallel included. Available
for one week only, exclusively on Topps.com." The 'Product Information' section
stated, "Each set contains (21) 2.5"x3.5" sticker cards - (20)
Base Sticker Cards PLUS (1) Parallel Sticker Card. Exclusive design, two-tone
border. Green Gem Parallel 1:3. Gold Coin 2:3."  Topps posted a Garbage Pail Kids x CLASH product ad to social media on July 29, 2022, to promote the release; displaying the online version only.  Special wax packs were created by Topps for the Finnish Supercell game developer to "hand out" as giveways through various online sources (mainly social media), including directly from the Clash of Clans content creators. The cards differ from the online version and contain the traditional white border rather then the new and exclusive two-tone border. |

Topps released their 2022 GPK Sapphire Edition online exclusive box, that included
32 trading cards featuring artwork from the OS3 and OS4 sets, on September 21,
2022, costing $130, four per customer. The limited supplies sold out in less than
an hour. The box mock-up image and online checklist both state "2021"
considering the set was originally planned to be released last year. Boxes were
initially offered to Topps 582 Montgomery club members via their 'early access'
membership perk on September 20, 2022, also with a one-per-person limitation.
Boxes sold for upwards of $500 on the secondary market for OS1 + OS2 Sapphire
Edition boxes in 2020. The description stated, "2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire
Edition brings the always beautiful Sapphire treatments to the always classic
Original Series 3 & 4 GPK sets! Look out for a ton of exclusive Sapphire colored
parallels bringing a level of glamor to some of the nastiest, stinkiest, and downright
ugliest gags in GPK history! 32 cards per box Look for Color Parallels!"
The release included a plethora of parallel border colors including blue, pink,
green, orange, gold, purple, red and 'padparadscha'. The price per box shot up
from $50.00 (OS1 + OS2) to $130.00 (OS3 + OS4) in just two years. 170 cards per
base and parallel set. Additional information, "Ships in 10-15 business days.
Cart limit: 2. Customer limit: 4."; boxes sold out within 15mins. The missing
hits pink border from 2020 has been included in this new release, but now numbered.

exclusive singles online, over a five-day period, collectively as a set, from
December 19 through December 24, 2022. The singles, released two per day, sold
for five days only and cost $9.99 per single... so instead of the usual eleven-card

set would cost closer to $100, ten subjects with no twin card & a chance at
