At
the beginning of the new year, starting in January, the Topps company continued
to release another year-long installment of their exclusive online brand of Garbage
Pail Kids cards and product as specialized and limited items, under the tutelage
of the Fanatics group, the new owners. This marks their eighth consecutive year
offering a slew of unique online material to the masses, in between their larger
retail releases, that tends to cater to a much smaller niche of hardcore collectors.
The online and digital releases are overseen by the Topps brand manager (of entertainment
ecommerce), Francis Miceli. Per LinkedIn, "I run the best sport auction account

Although scheduled for a January 27, 2023, online release, Topps pushed the drop
out one week, to February 03, 2023, for their 2022 GPK Sapphire Edition #3 box,
which included 32 trading cards, 8 packs per box & 4 cards per pack, and featured
artwork from the OS5 set, costing $120.00, ten per customer. The limited supplies
sold out in less than an hour for the UK online drop (a smaller number available),
and severa; weeks for the U.S. online drop. The box mock-up image and online checklist
both state "2022" considering the set was originally planned to be released
last year. Unlike the previous two releases, boxes were not offered to Topps 582
Montgomery club members via their 'early access' membership perk prior to the
main release. Topps posted to Facebook on February 03, 2023, stating: "Not
even premium chromium stock & a sapphire shine could make these characters
less gross. Head to Topps.com now to add 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire to your
collection!"  NOTE: Obviously a much larger production since boxes were not SOLD OUT right away, and there was an E-comm banner ad for online sales; Ecommerce = commercial transactions conducted electronically on the internet. The description stated, "2022 Garbage Pail Kids Chrome Sapphire Edition brings the always beautiful Sapphire treatments to the always classic Original Series 5 set! Look out for a ton of exclusive Sapphire colored parallels bringing a level of glamor to some of the nastiest, stinkiest, and downright ugliest gags in GPK history! 32 cards per box - Look for Color Parallels!" The release included a plethora of parallel border colors including blue, pink, green, orange, gold, purple, red and 'padparadscha'. The price per box shot up from $50.00 (OS1 + OS2) to $130.00 (OS3 + OS4) in just two years, and down to $120 (OS5), possibly due to a much higher production. 100 cards per base and parallel sets. Topps released their annual Valentine's Day online
set, titled 'Valentine's Day is Canceled', sold while supplies lasted, on February
09, 2023, that cost $40.00 per twenty-nine card mini-box (previously a plastic-case
pack without box). The set is composed of tribute artwork of OS5 characters, to
coincide with the recent Chrome OS5 releases. Within their set Description section,
the Topps Shop stated, "[2022] 2023 Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Valentine's
Day is Canceled! Valentine's Day MUST BE STOPPED! We the Garbage Pail Kids have
had enough of this holiday. It must be cancelled -- we are here to STOP every
aspect of Valentine's Day. Along with all your favorite GPK artists this year
we added fame artist Ermsy to the mix to help stop this terrible holiday. Exclusively
on Topps.com"

Topps released their 2023 GPK Not-Scars exclusive
set online from March 09 through March 16, 2023. The set sold for one week only
and cost $19.99 per eleven-card set, or +$160 for 10 sets ($179.99). Within their
set 'Description' section, the Topps Shop simply stated: "The
GPK NOT-SCARS are back in 2023! 10 Base Stickers plus 1 Parallel per set."
and "Each set contains (11) 2.5"x3.5" sticker cards - 10 Base Stickers

has been several years since Topps has released a 'Not-scars' set, since 2019(?);

next week...GPK Prime Slime Trashy TV. Collect a new set every week for the next
6 weeks. Only at Topps.com." This may be the first online drop that has been
announced a full week in advance, and where Topps continued to advertise for the
release each day within their daily online-store emails. Historically, online
GPK sets have been cold drops and unannounced.
NOTE: A nice light-orange nameplate has been used within
the online release. For each release, the first nine cards are a completed puzzle,
the tenth card is the set checklist, and the sepia cards contain the banner &
set title.  05. Topps released the first of six GPK Prime Slime Trashy TV exclusive sets online from April 20 through April 27, 2023. Although not an online item, Topps had an exclusive pair of Prime Slime Trashy TV Promo Cards (100ea?) printed through and for the Philly Non-Sports Card show that took place the weekend of May 20 and 21. Per social media the first half of May, artist David Gross mentioned, "If you are going to the [Philly Show] I'll be at my booth with an exclusive official [GPK] card available!" and "Adam F. Goldberg's The Muppets Mayhem is now streaming on Disney+! Check it out and get the [GPK] promo cards (A/B Names) I painted which are available at the [Philly Show]!" Note: the Philly show has been printing and paying for these cards to be printed, roughly 100 per promo card, for several years, after first getting permission. More than 60% of these particular promocards were miscut, so Gross paid to have them reprinted, so roughly 200 may eventually exist on the secondary market. 10.  The "View Askew Productions" is a film and television production company founded by Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier in 1994, which includes Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, etcetera. The "View Askewniverse" is a fictional universe created by writer and director Kevin Smith, which is featured in several of these films, in comics, and a television series, where the Jay and Silent Bob characters appear in almost all of them. media on Friday, July 21, 2023, to announce the following week's card drop, simply
stating, "DROPPING SOON. 2023 Topps Entertainment Blend: Look n’See
by Ermsy. 7.27.2023", featuring the LOOK 'n SEE® trademark, along with
the Wacky Packages and Mars Attacks brand names, but not including Ugly Stickers
for this release—which took part within the Set 1 release, last year, in
2021. Artist Ermsy shared the same announcement ad to Facebook, simply stating,
"Entertainment Blend Series 2 dropping next week!" Ermsy actually took
to Instagram eleven weeks prior, at the beginning of May 2023, with a sneak peek
of the new character box artwork. Ermsy also took to social media, on July 27,
2023, and stated, "Entertainment Blend Series 2! My new card set combining
Garbage Pail Kids, Mars Attacks, Wacky Packages and Look N’ See. Look out

Topps released several GPK Oh, the Horror-ible!
expansion sets online, lazily listed as simply "Oh the Horrible",
Wave #1 through Wave #6, for six consecutive weeks. Each set sold for one week
only and cost $19.99 per eleven-card set or +$160 for 10 sets ($179.99). The sets
are mini expansion sets to the regular 2018S2 & 2019S2 retail releases. All
artwork was created by artists BRENT Engstrom and DAVID Gross. Within their set 'Description' section, the Topps Shop stated: "Topps and Garbage Pail Kids themed 10-card sets: Oh the Horrible! Topps started releasing their 2023 Was the WORST!
exclusive GPK singles online over a five-day period, collectively as a set, starting
on December 11 and ending on December 15, 2023, with last-day sales ending on
December 16. The singles, released two cards per day, except for Friday which
had three cards, sold for five days only and cost $9.99 per single; so instead
of the usual eleven-card set for $19.99, five subjects with A+B twin cards &
a parallel card, this set would cost over $100—eleven subjects with no twin
card & a chance at a parallel card. Bulk sales were an option: 5 cards for
$29.99 or 10 cards for $49.99. Within their set 'Description' section, the Topps Shop stated, "2023 Topps Garbage Pail Kids: 2023 Was The WORST! Celebrate some of this year's wackiest moments with your favorite Garbage Pail Kids characters! Every day this week, two new characters from a 11-card set will be revealed, and on Friday, three cards will be released, each humorously spoofing some of this year's most memorable moments.
