Sgorbions were printed
by the Topps Italy Co. and released throughout Italy and parts of southern Switzerland;
the Italian-speaking region. A total of four series, measuring slightly smaller
than 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches, that are non-die cut peeling from the edges
were produced with reverse cardback variations. The cards were released
in 1990-1993 after the success of the Garbage Pail Kids in the U.S. and the UK
and came packaged five stickers per wax pack. The sticker images contain
no 'PEEL HERE' arrows and were a direct reproduction
of the France Les Crados cards. There were also four extra sets produced: two
'Mega' sets (much like the U.S. 'GIANT' set), a special 'Holidays' set which contained
metallic, clear, and regular stickers, plus transfers and tattoos, and an unnumbered
'Stamp' set. A plethora of additional product was also released during this timeframe
as postcards, 'balloons', pins, activity books, coloring books, et cetera. |
Excess stickers of various series
were released in Super Sgorbions packs, sometimes referred to as 'Fun Packs',
similar to U.S. 'JUMBO' or 'Rack Packs'. There are no wrapper codes on the packaging. |
