The gross-out characters of the Garbage Gang are back – a playground pariah in the eighties, those of a certain age might recall the trading cards getting the heave-ho from the playground after characters like Walter Melon, Cora Corset and Varicose Wayne became so popular they caused mass distraction!

Now the highly collectable cards are back – the all-new Garbage Gang from Topps has been updated and given a disgusting overhaul for new kids on the 21st century block, and, of course, for kidults who remember them from back in the day. The iconic illustrations and all-round retro feel lend these cards appeal across the ages.

There are 96 cards to collect, swap and play in what is probably the most disgusting trading card game of all time. New this year are lenticular cards which bring the characters to life even more with moving images – there are ten of these special cards to collect.

Packs of five cards cost just £1 and the starter pack, which includes a collector’s’ binder, is £3, available at all good newsagents, grocery stores and online from www.toppsdirect.com. — The Italy versions don't advertise the release as a 'game' like the UK Garbage Gang version does. The 96 Game Card base set is set up into 'gross' categories with the 10 animate, that are 'specialty' game cards. The character image on the card front matches the theme of the game card on back, although some stray drastically from this rule-of-thumb. Categories: Injury (red circle with crossed bandaids, cards 1 - 22); Vomit (mustard yellow circle with vomit splatter, cards 23 - 40), Mucus (yellow circle with green snot patch, cards 41 - 58), Acne/Zits (purple cirle with a pimple postule, cards 59 - 74), and Fecal (brown circle with toilet bowl image, cards 75 - 96).

— The ten Motion Cards, aka lenticular cards, were also used in the 2018 Sgorbions release which is a replication of the 2008 Italy Kakkones release; all three releases use the same images.



— U.S. ANS1 and ANS2 Foil Sticker Images are used within the rebranded ANS1 set, and like many of the international sets, portrays the cards on regular card stock rather than foil card stock.

— The set contains five of the six Scratch 'n Stink Chase Cards From the ANS2 set placed within the set (reproduced from the 2018 Sgorbions set and older 2008 Kakkones set) as regular cards without the scratch 'n' stink affect. The only SnS character not pictured within the set is S2a Cheese LUIS & S2b Eruptin' ERIC.

— The set contains both of the U.S. ANS2 Bonus Cards found within the game card base set. The images for both B1 On Camera CAMERON & B2 Paintball PAUL. Kakkones version:



— Since the set contains No Stickers and is completely game card-based, the set has no 'PEEL HERE' arrows. And much like album-based sticker sets, the card number shows up on the back of the game card, rather than the front, which usually occurs for most internatiaonl GPK stickers sets that are 'pasted' into albums ... this leaves the front of the card looking very 'clean'.

— The 2018 set does differentiate from the original UK 2004 Set and album series; besides the name change, the set has more characters than the card release, but less than the album series release, and the set comes with a smaller binder.

— The packs contain Foil Wrappers, much like the U.S. releases, rather than the paper-based wrappers of the older International releases. See wrapper images above within the 'Production' section. There does exist a promo pack, for ALL three characters, that has the pack barcode, "1:5 Packets" (lenticular cards odds), and "£1.00" price removed; "Promotional Packet Only, Not For Wholesale Return."



— The set contains No Checklist, the back of the card album acts as the checklist for the game card set. The album contains only images and numbers/letters for the characters, the names on the images are too small to read. This is very similar to the U.S. and Canadian sticker album backs made by the Imperial Toy Corporation that more or less showcased uncut sheets.

— The set has a great Gross-Green Border that goes well with the ANS1 U.S. and international themes. This is very reminiscent of Italy's earlier GPK releases called the Sgorbions where the sets after the 1st release contained coloured borders.

— The set contains No Puzzles.
