G.I.JOKES Series 1 set was released the last Thursday of February,
2017. The entire set was created by artist Mark Pingitore who sketched
and painted all nine characters to create an eighteen, twin-card parody
release poking fun at the G.I.JOES comic, cartoon and toyline
franchise. The
first print run of 200 sets, containing one asterisk (*
© 2017 MARK PINGITORE PRTD. IN U.S.A.),
was posted to his website Magic Marker Art for $35 each along with a
T-shirt bundle offer for $55. The concept was initially mentioned on
the Magic Marker Art Facebook page and other social media in December
of 2016 as a voting competition between two set ideas that Pingitore
had been toying with; collectors opted to see G.I.JOKES realized
first over Mutagen
Canister Kids
the later being a parody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles
(TMNT). The 'PEEL HERE' vinyl stickers
have an ingenious military dog tag die-cut which is a wonderful shout-out
to early GPK releases with special sticker die-cuts. Pingitore's
titles (Disasters of the Universe, Slop! Culture Kids, Horrorible
Kids, Mutagen Canister Kids, et cetera) and products are
wonderfully influenced by the 80's nostalgic toy and cartoon era that
have become part of pop culture. |

| 1. The
Original Concept for G.I.JOKES was initially seen as a tight
sketch and mentioned on the Magic Marker Art Facebook page and other
social media in December of 2016 as a voting competition between two
set ideas that Pingitore had been toying with; collectors opted to
see 'G.I.JOKES' realized first over 'Mutagen Canister Kids' -- the
later being a parody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles (TMNT).
As with Mark's previous parody release, the Disasters of the Universe,
the sets are based off of nostalgic 80's toylines that fed into the
cartoon realm and other mediums back in the day and are still relevant
and successful franchises today.

| 2. Starting in
mid-January, the Magic Marker Art social media pages started to tease
collectors of the impending parody release with a few Color Rough
sneak peeks. On January 16th, all nine G.I.JOKES color roughs were
displayed with the previous 'Cobra Commander' character (code name
LEE Der) showcased on top since
it was the only figure at that point to be seen. Later in January,
on the 24th and 27th, the G.I.JOE parody images for 'Zartan'
removing a "mask" and 'Storm Shadow' being electrocuted
were shared as sneak peaks to the public, respectively. A very strong
and promising set already.

Material in the form of electronic sheets acted as ads for the
G.I.JOKES Series 1 set on social media in early and late February
of 2017. The initial ad ran on Mark Pingitore's pages on February
3rd had the 'FEBRUARY 23, 2017' tagline and
showcased the three previously sneak-peeked characters. The second
preview ad was posted on the actual release date and the tagline now
read 'NOW AVAILABLE' and 'www.magicmarkerart.storenvy.com'.
Both backgrounds portrayed the Cobra parody snake symbol.

Marker Art social media pages showed images of packaged G.I.JOKES
packs with and without the circular sticker and was eventually used
as the picture link for the sale of the set at $35 on the website.
The set was also offered as a $55 bundle with a choice of T-shirt.
The circular sticker in the bottom left hand corner seals the protective
wrap on the backside of the 'pack'. A decent price tag for the set
when considering an independent release, vinyl material, die-cuts
and some profit. | ||

| 5. On April 29,
2017, the Magic Marker Art website posted a limited edition pack of
8 Magnets for $15.00 with a print run of only 150 per subject
under the Slop Culture Kids moniker. The 1st Series set contains
four characters from the Disasters of the Universe set with
a castle diecut, two characters from the Horrorible Kids set
with a tombstone die cut, and two characters from the G.I.JOKES
set with a dog-tag die cut. The cardboard packaging is modeled after
a nostalgic Topps GPK wrapper with a logo, a yellow background,
'STICKERS' in bold with a white background, a series announcement
(starting after the OS1 set) and '5 STICKERS 1 STICK BUBBLE
GUM' printed at the bottom.

| 6. A tight pencil
and partial ink Preview for two potential soft enamel pins
were posted to social media on August 15, 2017. Thus, possibly adding
to the Magic Markers Art product line, most specifically to the popular
pin line. The two characters are 3a PIA Soup
and 3b Compelled CHRISTY from the Horrorible
Kids card set plus 1a Commandin' BRANDON
and 1b LEE Der from the G.I.JOKES
car set. The 'soft enamel pin' color proof for the G.I.JOKES was posted
online soon thereafter. The official pin ad was posted on 09/13/2017
on social media and the pin was posted for sale the following day,
09/14, limited to 150 pins produced for the price of $10.

| 7. A year after
the original G.I. Jokes concept was posted online, Magic Marker
Art showcased another Rough Sketch on 12/09/2017; Pingitore:
"I've been busy working on commissions this month, but also
taking some time to plan for 2018. Each of my sets start as rough
sketches to visualize my ideas, and I jot down some names. I choose
the ones I like and arrange them in a way that is visually pleasing.
Here's a look at some roughs from four different upcoming 2018 sets
(G.I. Jokes, Nintendopes, Thunderbrats, and Horrorible Kids)!"
A G.I. Jokes Series 2 is on the horizon for 2018 with a potential
G.I. Joe Lady Jaye character parody.

| 9. An 11x17 inch
G.I.JOKES Poster became available at the ToyCon/Gross
Card Con in Las Vegas during the weekend of the 23rd through the 25th
of February, 2018 (*
© 2018 MARK PINGITORE PRTD. IN U.S.A.).
The item was ordered and received right before the convention so was
unannounced and a nice surprise for collectors at the show. The 1a
Commandin' BRANDON character poster is
a limited edition of 50 copies and signed by the artist, Mark Pingitore.
The limited edition mini poster officially went on sale online on
03/26/2018 for $10.00 each.

| 10. Starting in
early-March, the Magic Marker Art social media pages started to tease
collectors of the impending parody release with a few Tight Pencil
sneak peeks on 03/06/2018. Artist Mark Pingitore teased: "G.I.
Joes - Series 2 pencils ready for color roughs!" showcasing the
'Lady Jaye' character. Later in March, on the 15th and 18th, the G.I.JOE
parody headshots for 'Snake Eyes' and 'Golobulus' shared as sneak
peaks, respectively. | ||

| 11. The online
Promotional Material in the form of electronic sheets acted
as ads for the G.I.JOKES Series 2 set on social media in early
and late April of 2018. The initial ad ran on Mark Pingitore's pages
on April 6th had the 'APRIL 26, 2017' tagline
and showcased two previously sneak-peeked characters plus one new
character, a parody of Joe member 'Scarlett'. The second preview ad
was posted on the actual release date and the tagline read 'NOW
AVAILABLE', both with ''www.magicmarkerart.storenvy.com''.
The ad background are tight pencil art of characters from G.I.JOKES
Series 1. | ||

| 13. Mark's appreciation
for parody and Garbage Pail Kids can be seen on his Magic Marker
Art's website in the form of his personal Mascot, a self-caricature
modeled after OS2 cards 74a MARK Bark
and 74b Kennel KENNY painted by
John Pound. This would be the first 'Mark' name in the GPK
canon; Pingitore's character is biting down on a No.2 pencil instead
of a dog bone. | ||

uses a nice army green color for the circular G.I.JOKES 'SERIES
1' sticker that acts as a "pack" Seal for the set.
