RELEASE PERIOD : AUGUST 2019

The Horrorible Kids Series 4 set was released during the summer of 2019, on August 20th. The entire set was created by artist Mark Pingitore who sketched and painted all 45 characters to create a ninety, twin-card parody release poking fun at the horror film genre. The creative title is a play on both of the words 'horror' and 'horrible'. The first print run box, containing one asterisk,
* © 2019 MARK PINGITORE - MAGIC MARKER ART, LLC, was posted to his Magic Marker Art website for $75, along with a plethora of other HK inventory such as posters, printing plates and an enamel trading pin. The 'PEEL HERE' stickers and display box have an ingenious tombstone-esque die cut and cut out which is a nice reminder of early GPK releases with special die-cut stickers.

At the same time, a 2nd print run pre-order of Horrorible Kids Series 3 also ran on the Magic Marker Art website for one month, from June 1, 2019 through June 30, 2019, and was available starting on August 9, 2019. Instead of boxed packs as the 1st print run, this was a mini-box release with just the full set with brand-new puzzle backs. The 90-card, 45-character set encompasses a re-release of the HK1 and HK2 sets on vintage style cardstock format along with the new HK3 material. Per the MMA website, each box came with: A full 90 card Series 1—3 base set (45 characters, each with an "a" and "b" alias), 2nd Printing (trademark line; * © 2019 MARK PINGITORE - MAGIC MARKER ART, LLC), Vintage style cardstock (die-cut stickers!), and BACK ART (puzzles).

~ Nomenclature = Sadistic.
~ Horror film character: Captain Spaulding played by Sid Haig.
def'n: Sadistic — Deriving pleasure from inflicting pain on someone, et cetera.

46b I HUNT HUGH
~ Nomenclature = 'I Hunt You', a play on the phrase 'I Want You (for the U.S. Army)'.
~ Horror film parody: House of 1000 Corpses (2003).
def'n: 'I Want You' — Uncle Sam U.S. Army recruiting poster designed by J. Montgomery.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The clowning-around character can be seen in the same position as the famous "I Want You for the U.S. Army" recruiting poster, designed by James Montogomery, but instead of a dead-serious expression of Uncle Sam, the murdurous maniac has a manic smile. The killer is holding a victim's dismembered forearm and comedically using it to point.
~ The artwork is also a nice tribute to the OS3 GPK character for cards 110a Snooty SAM and 110b U.S. ARNIE, painted by artists John Pound, that is also a humorous parody of the Uncle Sam poster. The character was painted as a commission piece but used with permission within the set and found on the retail poster and as a 9-piece puzzle.

~ Nomenclature = 'Late-night snack'.
~ Horror film parody: Gremlins (1984).

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The main antagonist of the movie and parody character can be seen in the midst of troublemaking and raiding a fridge for a midnight snack. The opposite of the playful and kind Mogwai that is Gizmo (aka Giz), the mean and nasty gremlin is the end result after breaking one of the three golden rules of caring for a Mogwai: NO water, NO bright light, and NO food after midnight.
~ The card layout is found with a yellow and red logo, a nod to the rare OS1 GPK logo for cards 18a and 18b Bad BRAD, painted by artists John Pound; both being evil characters.
~ The artwork was intended to be used for the Philly Non-Sport promo card for the 70th show in May of 2019, but the artwork for card 50a Edgy EDDIE was chosen instead.

def'n: Convent — A Christian community under monastic vows, especially those of nuns.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The artwork depicts a demonic nun slapping a ruler to her palm, a warning to any disobedient rule breakers, or non-law-abiding miscreant, that the corporal punishment for such blasphemy would be some good old-fashion knuckle-rapping or ruler slapping. The manipulative demon 'possesses' demonic powers, shapeshifting, telepathy, the ability to block clairvoyance, intimidation, possession, etc.

~ In the movie, the character completes a teleportation device and tests the machine out on himself; an undetected housefly slips into the device during the process and the character slowly changes into a fly due to cell muatation complications and turns into a monster. The music score contains titles such as 'Seth & the Fly' and 'Brundlefly' to show the relationships of the separate and combined human and insect. The artwork humorously depicts the transformed character holding a fly swatter; an implement used for swatting and killing small insects.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The artwork shows the character sporting his avant-garde attire and hands made out of scissors. The original concept depicts the character much like his movie counterpart with long pointy scissors, but this was changed during the color rough stage to the character containing only toddler's safety scissors for hands; this raising the bar of humor as well as the cuteness level, even though the character's face still depects some cutting mishaps.
~ The popular character can be found as the box and wrapper mascot of the release, a 9-card puzzle, as a promo card for the 70th Philly Non-Sport card show in May of 2019, limited edition poster, and as the first enamel pin released for the series.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The artwork depicts the movie's main character in his occupational role as a health club janitor, post bullying. The character is tricked into wearing a pink tutu and kissing a sheep; he's chased around the club and out a second story window where he lands in a drum of toxic waste, which sets him on fire. The transformation ensues gifting the deformed creature the power of superhuman size and strength. The artworks shows the character mopping up toxic waste, but also references the tutu and the ballet stance 'en pointe' or on pointe; a stance on a ballerina's toes that requires tremendous strength of the legs and feet. The color combination is a shout-out to the gender-bending image of OS3 GPK character for cards 118 Half-NELSON and 118b Glandular ANGELA, painted by artist John Pound.

def'n: Crass — To lack sensitivity, refinement or intelligence.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The artwork showcases all of the characteristics of the horned, anthropomorphic folklore figure that's described as half-goat and half-demon. During the Christmas season he punishes children who have misbahaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas (Kris Kringle) who rewards well-behaved children with gifts. In several regions he is considered to be a companion of Saint Nicholas (observed on December 6) having pre-Christian origins. The figure is often depicted as being hairy with brown-black fur, cloven hooves, horns of a goat, a long, pointed tongue lolling out, fangs, carrying chains – believed to symbolize the binding of the Devil – thrashing them about for dramatic effect, and bundles of burch branches, of pagan origins, used to swat at children with.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The artwork depicts the a minor antagonist of the movie, Charley Brewster's ex-girlfriend after she becomes a victum of his next-door neighbor who's a vampire and before she's saved. The character is seen in white dress, but in the stance of Marilyn Monroe, who also wore a white dress in the 1955 film The Seven year Itch, in the famous scene and image of her standing above a NYC subway grating blowing the dress up as she's attempting to hold it down, laughing and looking sexy ... not quite pulled off by Amy Peterson who's drooling profusely with a grotesque grin.

THE TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:
~ The artwork depicts all of the fun stereotypes of a leprechaun and their pot of gold, plus rapster bling, minus the rainbow. Standing on a pile of gold, covered in diamonds. A four-leaf clover is used in the movie to suppress the leprechaun's powers and to trap it inside a crate. Due to the actor's shorter stature and long history in filmmaking, Warwick Davis has starred in several pinnacle fantasy roles such as Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars : Return of the Jedi, as Willow in Willow, as Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films, etc.

The Art the Clown character is seen sporting a pair of 2-striped black CPK-like shoes; card 56a happens to share the same GPK nomenclature as OS1 character for card 6a ART Apart.

The humanoid monster is seen wielding his Great Knife and flies circling around due to the stench of death. The full-on attack and attach-mode of the larvae gives the character a red-haired sea anemone appearance while she's being attacked and preyed upon. The slug-like larvae, a sentient ET parasite takes over the host body and absorbs the mind; those infected become part of the 'hive mind' controlled by the main host.

Pennywise the Dancing Clown entices Georgie closer to the storm drain where he bites off his arm and drags him into the sewer. The artwork depicts Georgie's severed limb within the S.S. Georgie boat floating down a river of his own blood while he's holding the famous read balloon, one of the enticing tools Pennywise uses and states "They all float down here...".

The hippie attire references Bobby Sawyer's time spent in Vietnam where he received his head wound by a machete and originally referred to as "Plate-Head". The image also displays Chop Top's habit of scratching around his metal plate with a heated clothes hanger and eating the dead skin that is picked off.
~ The image is a wonderful tribute to the OS3 GPK character for cards 91a BLAKE Flake and 91b Hippie SKIPPY, painted by artist Tom Bunk, that also contains a flower power motif, throwing the peace gang sign, psychedelic symbols, flies & a hanging spider.

The artwork is a nice tribute to the theatrical release poster which shows the Creature holding actress Julia Adams, but both characters appear underwater, within the black lagoon, rather than on land. And, besides the white, one-piece swimsuit worn by Kay, the Creature is sporting his own white garment, albeit, a wet diaper.

Gage's father then moves him to the 'pet cematary' to return him from the dead, Winston Church-style. Gage is then corrupted by the Wendigo; a primal demon that terrorized Native American races in two of Stephen King's novels. The Kid can be seen sporting a single, 2-striped red CPK-like shoe that match his kite, blood and the truck.

The inscription on the stone coffin looks as though it's Egyptian writing, but reads 'PING', for the artist Mark Pingitore; this is covered by the HK logo on card. Although he looks scary, if not at least mischievous, the fun-loving monster is befriended by the main character who accompanies him on pulling pranks on other children in their bedrooms. So that the monsters stay unnoticed to humans, the side affect of having the lights turned-on, or experiencing any form of light, is that the monster collapses into a pile of clothes. 17. Per artist Mark Pingitore, the Sleepy Hollow Concept for cards 63a Sleepy HOLLIS and 63b NOAH Head replaced a Ghostbusters II (1989) concept, "There was a Ghostbusters II concept that got replaced with the Sleepy Hollow one." The color rough shows the antagonist Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf (aka Vigo the Carpathian), a medieval tyrant and sorcerer, standing over a pile of skulls and bones. The concept shows the nomenclature of 'Vintage VIGO' and 'REN A. Sance' (renaissance).
The cards for 73a Creepin' TOM and 73b Spyin' RYAN replaced the original Creepshow concept, "That was a concept based on one of the Creepshow stories, Tide You Over. It got to color rough, but I decided to do the more recognizable Creepshow poster parody instead." The concept shows the nomenclature of 'High TY' and 'WALTER Logged'. Both concepts can be seen on the original 45-card layout, but not the replacements; it is unknown at this time if they'll show up in any future release. A third concept for 'Jeepers Creepers' ('Creep EARL') may have been replaced by the 'Brightburn' parody which is not located on the original line-up of characters.

19. When not a puzzle piece, the reverse Card Backs are a tribute to the Garbage Pail Kids OS3 and OS4 'WANTED' poster card backs. The HK3 set released in 2018 had 'WANTED' backs along with a 'HORROR FLIX', much like the 'FLICK-IT!' section of the GPK OS11-16 sets. The HK3 set released in 2019 only contained puzzle pieces to differentiate the two releases.
