G: Where are you from?
E: I am from Taiwan
G: Did you celebrate New Year in Taiwan?
E: Yes
G: What did you do before New Year?
E: We cleaned the house few days before New Year, and I went buy Chinese New Year food with my mom. After that we paste the Chinese New Year poster everywhere in the house. And we had big dinner on New Year's eve.
G: Did you have your New Year's eve dinner with only your family?
E: No, on New Year's eve, my family had dinner with most of the relatives on my father's side and on the 2nd day after New Year we had dinner with the relatives of my mother's side.
G: Did you do anything particular on New Year's eve other than having dinner?
E: Yea, we played mah jong all night and didn't go to sleep. Early in the morning we played firecrackers
G: So, did you go to temple?
E: Yes, we went there and wish for good luck.
G: Is there anything you want to add?
E: During chinese period, we don't go out and have fun with friends as usual, I mean we don't go to pub and disco this kind of place.
G: Do you think there is any different between Taiwan and other Chinese place for celebrating New Year?
E: I don't think there is much different from other places because we Chinese all follow the traditional way. We do lion dance, dragon dance and we eat pretty much the same kind of New Year food. Oh, and we gamble alot during Chinese New Year, this is a special occasion for us to gamble.
