Beanie Counterfeit Info

The number of counterfeit problems arising on the net, at beanie shows and flea markets etc, is becoming increasingly high. The beanies that are high targets for 'fake dealers' are,

• Britannia
• Maple
• Libearty
• Quackers
• Glory
• Halo
• Splash
• Clubby
• Many others, although the above are the main targets.

How to spot a Glory counterfeit

It is quite easy to spot a Glory counterfeit, just look for these features:

• Look at the poem, if it reads 'Oh, say can you see, Glory's proud of her country, Red, White and Blue- Independence day, Happy Birthday USA! Your beanie is a fake if this is what it reads. :(
• Look at the position of her flag. It should be half way up inbetween the top of her legs and her neck and on the left hand side.
• Lastly, look for poor quality stiching in her flag!

How to spot a Britannia counterfeit

If you want to check to see if your Britannia is real check to see if it is fake by looking for these features

• The star on the hang tag is poor quality and the edges are too sharp, not rounded.
• Check to see if the eyes are too low on her face.
• Check the flag. If the blue is too light, its a fake :( Also check for poor quality stiching again.
• The ribbon may be too wide, pale or dark.
• Hardely any counterfeits have been made in Indonesia, so ignore rumours! Thanks Mary Beths For this piece of info!

How to spot a Zero counterfeit

This just proves how dishonest people are getting now they are even making fake 'recently retireds'????

• The fake is smaller than the real. (About 1/4")
• On the authentic Zero the hat sits lower that the fake.
• On the fake beanie the eyes are spread out too much :)
• Also they eyes on the counterfeit seem to be bigger.
• I would look out for this one because he is getting fairly easy to 'fake' :)

NEWSFLASH!!

I have solved the 'pointy eyes mystery' You may have heard the rumour that if your beanies eyes had points behind them then your beanie is a fake! Well, don't worry because I inspected most of my beanies and I found that the older ones eg. Spooky and velvet had points behind their eyes but the newer ones eg. Chip and Peace didn't. My older ones are not fakes because I bought them from a proper TY retailer. So, don't worry if your beanie has pointy eyes! :)
