Memory Cartridge (?)for Sharp PC-1500

A bit of personal stuff:

I got this neat little computer while walking through a rainstorm at a hamfest... I had just bought my Tandy 200 laptop, and looking for a place to shelter myself from the sudden downpour, I ran to the nearest "tent". Most of what I saw there was either stuff that was overpriced, or just not interesting. Then I noticed a beat-up brown case under an IBM Thinkpad. I moved the Thinkpad, and I found a Sharp PC-1500 under it. The case was pretty ragged, but the computer, printer, and theRAM cartridge(?) pretty were in pretty good shape. It also came with a quick reference guide for a Sharp PC-1400... I asked the guy what he wanted for it, and he said he didn't know what it was, and he didn't know how to use it, so I could have it for $20. I asked him if he'd take $15, and he said okay. Now... I didn't know how to use it either, but I had seen just the computer part sell for around $45. This one had the printer, and what was left of the case. I got it home, hooked the whole thing to an adapter (the printer/cassette interface won't run off batteries) turned it on, and it worked. I figured it probably had BASIC, so I did an LPRINT command, and the printer started to go, but quit halfway through. Upon further inspection, I found that the pen holder is cracked, and one of the 'cogs' used to spin the pens around is missing. I recently found out that it's electronically the same as the TRS-80 Pocket Computer 2, so I've figured how to use it now, although, I still haven't found out what the "M-DATA" cartridge is for. It says "Carleton Memory Technology" on the bottom (molded into the plastic), so I guess it's expansion RAM, but I can't figure out how to use it (I connect it to the computer, and still get the same RAM size with the "MEM" command... Pretty neat little thing, though... wish I had a word processor ROM for it (if they made one).
