                          Ben Weaver's Chrismas Cut-out Cookies

                          1/2 cup butter
                       1 cup sugar
                  2 eggs
                     1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
                       3 cups sifted all-purpose flour

                             In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar
                                together until light.  Add the egss, one at a time,
                               beating well.  Add the vannilla.  In a separate
                             bowl sift together the flour and baking soda,
                              and add enough flour to the creamed mixture to
                             form a dough that holds together.  Chill for
                               about 1 hour.  Roll the dough on a lightly floured
                              surface to 1/8-inch thickness.  Cut with cookie
                               cutters.  Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet,
                           Bake in a 350 oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
                        Makes 3 dozen
