If we could bring all the world into a village
of 100 inhabitants , keeping
proportions of all earth's living people, we
would get:
52 women and 48 men
30 white and 70 non-white
30 Christians and 70 non-Christians
89 heterosexuals and 11 homosexuals
6 of these people would have 59% of total
wealth and all 6 would be from USA
80 would live in bad houses
70 would be illiterate
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be about to die
1 would be about to be born
1 would have a computer
1 (yes, only one !) would have a
university degree.
If you now look at the world in such a way,
the need to understand and
accept is obvious!
If you consider also that :
if you woke up this morning with more
health than illness : you're
luckier than the million people who will
not even see next week
if you've never been in the danger of a
war, loneliness of imprisonment,
mortal agony of torture, dramatic hunger:
you're in better conditions than 500 million
people. If you can go to church without threats,
being tortured or killed : you're in a better
situation than 3 billion people.
if you have food in the fridge, clothes to
wear, a roof above your head or somewhere to sleep:
you're richer than 75% of earth inhabitants
if you have a bank account, money in your
wallet and coins in a small box at home:
you're part of the 8% most privileged of the world
if your parents are still alive and still
married : you belong to a "less than 1%" community.
if you read this message : you just got a
double blessing!
Because: someone thought about you...
and you're not part of the 2 billion
people who are not able to read.
