About India
India, and its ancient
civilization of the Indus Valley, is one of the oldest
in world, dating back to almost 5,000 years.
As of 2001, an estimated 1 billion people lived in India. The majority of
Indians are Hindu, followed by a large Muslim population. Hindi is the national
language, but India has 14 official
languages. India is a Federal Republic and is headed by
Prime Minister Atal Behari.
The majority of India’s economy comes from
farming, crafts, industry, and agriculture. India is also home to the
largest film industry in the world, larger than Hollywood.
