Our assignment: Choose soemthing from this lesson or an earlier one that you want to work on
or get better at.
A funny thing happened on my way to making a road. A simple project turned into something much more elaborate, as often happens in Bryce. I made my road, but discovered that I'd chosen too dark a gray and I ended up with a very, very, very deep road. A canyon almost. Squishing it didn't turn out satifactorily. Hmmm... going with the flow, I turned this into a canyon scene. (LOL) I duplicated the terrain a bunch of times, twisted and tortured it. A terrain with the edge of the "road" was made into the boulders on the right side by tilting. The road itself is (surprise, surprise!) a canyon. The texture I painted onto the terrain in PSP was nice, but not detailed enough. What to do? Aha! Throw in a sunset to haze things up a bit. Too dark. Back to lesson on to play with specularity and metalicity, etc. Looks better, but the "road" edges still look a bit thin in texture. I threw in some ruins to draw the eye away from the canyon edges. They don't look quite right. Had to play with shadows. As you can see, my one little item turned into my weekly project.

After mulling over Sylvia's comments, I've redone this a bit: I cut the haze, took out the left ruin, added some more terrains and now you can see my road... er, river.
