Whew! Just finished this under the wire, before the new lesson gets posted. I've forced myself not to peek at anyone's work until I finished and posted mine. I should call this "Dogs From the Past Week," as that's the theme here this week.
I used to have a Malamute with this same mask and coloration. I played with this a bit - keeping
to a sort of gray, black, and white to make the pink tongue really prominent. Not sure I'd keep the chew toys
around the edge, but put them in to show reflections.
I took off the very tip of the triangles to make the tongue rotation into sort of a flower. I erased the
edges between the dog's ears to make the top of the head the edge and give this a more interesting shape.
I wanted to generate a serene mood, showing the love shared between my Golden, Charlie, and Frank. I
used a bright green to make it more upbeat.
I used "Variations" to get a lot of green into the photo. It wasn't enough, so I bucketed in another
layer of green on top and lowered the opacity and played with modes until I got the effect I wanted.
I used a brushed edge around the whole thing in various colors of green. I added a bit of texture and
then lowered the opacity.
I used a star shape to focus attention on the look shared between my two guys. I erased the center out in
a star shape and fill flooded the rest with green. Lowered the opacity. Then I added text to explain the
photo and add to the mood. I added a small stroked edge to the text and lowered the opacity.
I added a lot to this, but the green color and lowered opacity of the levels helped bring it all together.
At least I hope so!
