I stumbled into Photoshop by accident. Really!
There I was - a happy PSP 8 camper, just getting into digital scrapbooking, when I signed up for a class to learn how to make elements. Only after I'd started the class did I realize in was in PS, not
PSP. What a world of difference in that one little letter.
I liked the class, so I loaded a trial version of PS, got hooked on some of the intricacies, and learned to hate some other parts
of it. I'm here now to learn how to tame this beast.
I bought PS CS, but I think most things look pretty similar to version 7.

I actually have it sized a bit larger in real life, but made the window size a bit smaller so that the text would be readable. You can see one of my first projects in PS here - a friend's dog that I "cartoonized." Lurking behind that is this week's second assignment.

OK, so it's a background, not a picture. Believe me, you should be glad you're not being subjected to my lack of
drawing skills. I did the background in the current grunge look. I used about 10 different brushes that I adapted to
look the best here by varying the size, color, transparency, and various brush tip items.
Oops! Set my coffee cup down on this and got a stain.
Sonja, here's my problem. I'll use brushes to illustrate. And, yes, I do have a lot of them
loaded. But I'm in a Catch 22 type of situation here. I downloaded a lot of brushes to try out. However, in
order to try them out, I need to load them, since apparently there's no way to just browse them from within PS or
outside via a 3rd party program.
In order to load them, I have to go to the screen below, which continues off the right side of my monitor. It's an
18 inch flat panel set to 1280 x 1024 resolution, the only one offered, since it's not a CRT. Here's a screen shot
of the problem. Harder to do than I thought, as I couldn't use a screen capture program. Once I hit a key to start the
capture, the popup box would disappear in PS. So... I took a photo. It does show the entire monitor screen, but is a
a bit hard to see that, since the side of the monitor are black and it's getting dark here.
The number 1's mark the edge of the monitor screen

Here's an enlarged section. Yeah, I missed the very left hand section, but you get the idea.
