I haven't used Terragen before, but it's a very cool landscape generating program. It appears (so far!) to be a lot
easier to use than Bryce, but still gives nice results.
This week we covered:
Creating a Terrain
Adding a Body of Water
Working the Camera
Previews
Using a Surface Map
Creating the First Render
What world class fun this is! I did the regular assignment and then veered off and played around with everything I could touch with my
mouse. (grin) I did find that, like Bryce, each setting affects the other ones. So, I had to keep readjusting everything.
I did reset my water level at the very end. I had a better water line for the hill in the left foreground, but I wanted
to keep my middle island to draw the eye to background, so had to forgo that. I'm sure that Britt will teach us how to
edit our terrains soon, so that I could make this better. Also, I want to learn how to... warning technical term coming up...
squish my mountains so that they're more believable and not so jaggedy.
Here are my files:
my terrain and world filesSame world and terrain as above, but with a couple more generations of terrain added. I then moved the camera.
Ack! I keep generating new terrains. Somebody stop me before I hurt myself. (grin)
The last 3 were done at a higher rendering size and then downsized, so they are much clearer.
