I did a standard image following along with the lesson to practice all the techniques we learned - editing and sculpting
the terrain, water reflections, cloud scapes, and sunshine.
This is the panorama we were to create with a sunrise or sunset. I didn't use all the elements of the lesson
in this, but I did use most of them. I'm pleased with how this turned out. I like the way the water reflects the
light peach color and the light can be seen on the hills. I kept the sunrise color subtle and it didn't really show up,
so I added a pure white matte behind it to bring up the color. Since I had a matte, I added a frame made from the image.
Here's my button:
Oh, you didn't mean *that* kind of button? (grin) How about this one, then?
Here's the last image at full size:
Here's a variation on the last one... Now that we've played with the cloud module, I find myself wanting the ability
to sculpt my clouds, just as you can do in the terrain editor. When using the casting shadows option with clouds, it's really
tricky (and takes a lot of luck) to be able to get the shadows to fall where I want them and not where I don't want them.
In the image below it took a lot of playing to be able to get the light to fall mainly on the right hand side with those
pesky clouds. I'm not liking the looks of the clouds as much as above, but the light falls mainly on the sheer face, which
is what I was trying to do.
I worked and worked on that left hand peak to flatten it out. I managed to do it a bit, but then as I sculpted more, I started
getting really weird shapes. Sure wish there was a "undo" button for Terragen! I do save often, but not often enough for
sculpting work. Sometimes it seemed that erasing would end up painting the image.
