Schutzengel v Big Sky BH, CD, TT, OFA better known as "ANKE" was born on December 14, 1990 in the wee hours of the morning, along with her siblings. Anke was the largest female in my first litter as well as the most aggressive. She had a goal and destination in mind and let the world know right from the start. I had watched this litter for hours on end, mesmerized by the tiny beings and how quickly their personalities emerged. Anke stole my heart from the very beginning and although my expectations were high, she never failed to meet them. She matured to the top end of the standard of 24" at the shoulder and weighed approximately 80 lbs., a beautifully marked black and tan. She was by Hasso of Lololand SchH 3, CD, OFA, and out of Emmanuel's Mazarati Showtime OFA.

Anke is pictured here at three months of age. She was certainly growing into her promise. An active pup constantly picking on the older dogs residing at Big Sky at this time. Anke loved a tennis ball and soon her training began using it has motivation. When she turned nine months we entered our first fun match. I was as nervous as a chicken in a fox den..Anke breezed through her routine getting a first in sub-novice and second place in novice. She knew she had won too and leaped for her rawhide bone treat! Soon we were off to AKC competition, she aquired her CD in four legs with a second and third place. Next was our first Schutzhund trial where she aced her BH. When she turned two years of age and OFA'd (good) I decided to breed my girl. From this breeding she gave me Tell v Big Sky.

The following year rolled around and Anke's heat cycle interfered with the local AKC show's, so I bred my second litter from her. After a break we were back at training. She amazed me with never forgetting a thing so we trained for our CDX. Anke is pictured here doing the retieve over the high jump. We always missed one part of our routine and now four and a half years old, with more heats interfering in the seasons shows, I decided to retire her from training and began concentrating on her son Tell.

Anke is pictured here at five years of age, doing what she loved to do the most, "play ball"! Even though she was retired from competing, we still would go to the training field and run through a routine as she just loved to work. But for as energetic as Anke could be, she could spend hours content to lay by my feet. That was the only other important thing in her life, to be close to me.Below, although not the best shot, is a most endearing picture of Anke to me. It expresses in my mind her loyalty and devotion..when I would put her outside to get some fresh air while I cleaned up around the house, she would jump up on the freezer outside the kitchen window always trying to keep me in sight..May you live on in your son Tell.
