What is human hair used for?

Generally hair is used for three purposes. The largest is the fashion industry who use hair to produce wigs, hair extensions and falls. The second most common use is in making hair art(www.hairworksociety.org) and rooting doll hair in custom made dolls. Finally, there are those who have a hair fetish. As strange as this may be, these people generally pay more than other buyers.

What kind of value does hair hold?

The value of hair varies according to length, density, color and overall condition. On average, commercial industry will pay $2-$4 per ounce. Private buyers are willing to pay $5-$25. Also, depending on condition, some buyers often make offers of $25-$100 or more.

How do I sell my hair?

The HairBuyer Group was designed to help link serious sellers to trustworthy buyers. We personally filter through all membership requests to eliminate buyers that don't mean business. Also, you do not have to acquire a membership to sell your hair. Simply go to our link and when you arrive at our site go to "post". When you post your ad the moderator will ask you few questions to validate your legitimacy in order to protect our buyers. Once approved your ad will be posted on the message board to be viewed by our certified buyers.

Special Notice: Please note that this organization only deals with reasonable offers. Contrary to common belief, hair is not a valuable resource. No one will pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for human hair. Here's why: first and foremost, hair is made of a natural plastic called karotin. Because hair is a natural organic material, it will decompose over time; making it a non-durable good. Secondly, hair is considered by the commercial industry as human waste (just like finger nail clippings and fecies). In essence, when you sell your hair, you are simply recycling waste material for a small profit. This means that just as one cannot make a fortune recycling aluminum cans, neither can a person selling their hair. Finally, for the individual and business alike; cost of production would be too high for them to make a profitable return. So if you are looking to strike it rich by selling your hair you are wasting your time. If you are planning to cut your hair solely to make money DON'T DO IT, IT'S NOT WORTH IT! This is only for those who are going to cut their hair anyway and want to make a few extra bucks at the same time.
