"THE TOTAL INFORMATION SOURCE FOR THE SOPHISTICATED PLAYER"

CLAIMING & HORSE PUCHASING SERVICES

Whether you are looking to acquire a horse VIA private sale or claiming race for racing or breeding purposes, we can provide valuable information and recommendations for you in this pursuit.  In addition to maintaining an extensive video library on all the races run at the circuits we service, we also maintain a library for the circuits that provide a large number or shippers to our covered circuits.  This is important because a horse's form can be masked VIA racing against a track bias or difficult trip.  We have the expertise to analyze pedigrees in order to determine if the animal has been racing at its proper distance and or surface and to evaluate value as a broodmare for fillies and mares.  We also have contacts such as exercise riders that provide us with information on unraced or lightly raced horses.

In order to give you an indication of the value of our services, please note the following recent examples:

We recently evaluated a 3 year old making his 4th career start but first in a maiden claiming race. His first 2 races were quite promising but his most recent, the one that immediately preceded the drop into a maiden claimer, was clearly his worst and came on an off track. When researching his pedigree, we found that he was the first foal of his dam.  Therefore, we then checked to see how his dam and her siblings ran on off tracks.  What we found was that the dam and her 6 winning siblings were a combined 0 for 20 on off tracks.  Since her siblings included a stakes winner and a champion, there was more than enough ability there to make this a representative sampling.  Therefore, we recommended the claim of the colt to a client.  Our client did claim him and the colt ran an excellent second despite his tactics being reversed (former frontrunner was rated back in last) at a bad time as the track was holding speed that day.  The client and his trainer are quite pleased with him and the trainer is confident he will win on the raise.

In late March, 1999 at Oaklawn Park, we recommeded the claim of a 3 year old colt to a client.  After showing speed and tiring in a series of maiden allowance races, he was dropped in for Maiden $ 50,000 that day.  Research indicated some bad trips, a series of rides where the riders over-rated him, tough competition and the pedigree analysis indicated strength and the potential to race around 2 turns.  His dam is a 1/2 sister to a pair of stakes winners, one that made over $ 700,000 and the other being sire Metfield.  The second dam was just as strong and his third dam is champion Silver Spoon, not only an excellent producer but the last filly, prior to Winning Colors, to win the Santa Anita Derby.  The colt won very easily that day and has since run twice which resulted in a sharp second at Keeneland and sharp third at Churchill in stakes caliber fields. He is now being pointed for Saratoga. It is interesting to note that in the allowance race at Keeneland,  the race was so tough that, despite coming off a win, he went off at 26-1.  Nevertheless, he outsprinted a fast group through fractions of 21, 44, and 108 and was just caught in the final yards.  He was second, beaten just over a length, in a race that went in 1:15 2/5 for 6 1/2 furlongs.  He was 2 clear of the 3rd finisher who, in turn, was 3 clear of the 4th finisher.  Subsequently, the 6th place finisher has come back to win an two allowance races at Churchill and the 3rd finisher, who he beat 2 lengths, shipped to New York and was second to graded stakes sprinter Aristotle, who beat him only 3 lengths.  In short, he has a bright future and is already clearly worth at least double the $ 50,000 claim price.

We can put this vast amount of research capabilities to work for you.  Unlike many services that charge as much as 10% plus an additional percentage of future earnings to provide less information, we have a one time fee of 6% of the purchase or claim price should you act on one of our recommendations.  In a business where information is so important, this is best investment you can make.  For more information on our purchase and claim consulting services, please contact us VIA phone at (812) 284-0540, VIA fax at (812) 288-4926 or e-mail us at handicappingdaily@mailcity.com.
