Well, we all expected it, but now it is official - Hole have retired.
The following is an article, taken from Yahoo
Hole leader Courtney Love and co-writing partner and guitarist Eric Erlandson announced that the band is officially over.
"Since Geffen Records closed during the promotion of our last record, there have been a lot of distractions," said Love in a statement, referring to her current lawsuits. "Universal's lawsuit against us made it impossible for us to find a new record company despite overwhelming interest from other labels. After three years of waiting Eric and I have decided to put Hole to rest."
Love created music with Bastard, which featured Veruca Salt's Louise Post, but it's unclear if that project will ever release an album. She's currently working on material with former Hole drummer Patty Schemel and former 4 Non-Blondes vocalist Linda Perry.
Love is also battling both Universal Records and the remaining members of Nirvana (Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl) in two separate and distinct lawsuits. Plus, she's contemplating more roles as an actor.
Although Love has moved on, she'll remember Hole fondly. "I will always treasure the time we played together. Eric has been an important part of my family for over 10 years, and he'll continue to be part of my life. We're incredibly proud of the music we've made together, but it seems like time for both of us to move on."
Hole released three albums: Pretty On The Inside, Live Through This, and Celebrity Skin.
