A British face in Texas.
The Flying Scotsman visits
Houston Union Station
in November 1969.

Notice the headlight, knuckle
coupler and bell. These had to be
added for the Flying Scotsman
to operate over American
railroads.

No.4472 along Hardy St.
The London and North Eastern 4-6-0 enters Houston along Hardy Street.
This is now known as the Hardy Toll Road; a six lane turnpike with double track running down the
center. Much has changed since 1969.
Missouri Pacific must have had confidence that LNER 4472 could make it over the road. There is no diesel helper.
