An index to Homeless in Arizona. On Feb 22, 2003 I became homeless after I was evicted from my home.
This is the story of my journey
The first night of being homeless!!!
I went to the library at ASU and stayed there till they closed at 12 midnight. Then I went down to Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe and hung out till 1 a.m.I then walked from Mill Avenue to University and Rural. Then to Thomas Road and Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale along Rural Road which changes in to Scottsdale Road when it gets to the City of Scottsdale. From there to Thomas Road and 36th Street in Phoenix where I hung out for a half an hour outside. Then finally I walked along Thomas Road, 32nd Street, and Indian School Road to Los Olivos Park.
By that time it was 6 a.m. and the park was legally open which means the police could not arrest me for sleeping in the park. I slept for several hours and that was the begining of my first night as a homeless person.
After I woke up I went to Phoenix College and hung out in the Library where I worked on my web pages.
Day Two of being Homeless
I tried to do the same thing as on day one but I was too tired to hang out in the library till it closed at midnight so I started my walk at about 10 p.m.. I took the same path to Phoenix but got there at about 4 in the morning. I could not go to the park and sleep because the cops would arrest me if they found me sleeping so I planned to walk around on Indian School and 28th Street for two hours untill 6 a.m. when the park is open and it's legal to sleep in it.But it was damn cold so instead of going to the park I just waited for the first bus to come along and hopped on it at about 5:30 a.m.. I rode around on several warm busses for several hours till it was warm enough to go sleep in the park. And I ended up going to the new Steele Indian School Park on Central and Indian School where I slept for a will till some damn asshole park ranger woke me up and asked me if I was OK.
On my 2nd day as a homeless person I again went to Phoenix College Library to work on my web pages. In addition to hanging out the the Library I would often find a park to sleep in the day time because I do not get enough sleep at night.
Day three being homeless
My rountine developed where I would hang out in the Phoenix College Library till 10 p.m. when they closed. Then I would walk around for several hours. Usually walking from Phoenix College to the Los Olivos Park on 28th Street just north of Indian School. Then I would alternate between sleeping in Los Olivos Park and wandering around on the streets.
The problem with sleeping in the park is first the police can arrest you for being there when its closes.
Also I was sleeping on the grass and its colder then krap and I really don't sleep good when I'm cold.
The problem with walking around in the early morning hours is there is lots of pigs on the streets and I am afraid of them because I have been robbed, beaten, and had my civil rights violated a number of times by crooked police.
On my last day of sleeping in Los Olivos Park I found a really great place to sleep on the street. On 32nd Street and Indian School in the shopping center where the Basha's Food Store is there is a bowling alley. On the west side of the bowling alley is a door thats kinda of enclosed. Then a few feet west of the door is another large wall. In this door way its is a warm nice place to sleep. Also because of the wey its build and because of the wall to the west its impossible for the cops or anybody else to see you sleeping so you feel safe.
The flop house on Monroe Street
I found this flop house on Monroe Street just east of Central Avenue. Its near the San Carlos Hotel. They charge $11 a day tiny room with a bed which usually has bugs in it. I the place is called the Golden West Hotel. Its on 27 E. Monroe. I stayed there for a month. One of the clerks an American Indian guy with a long pony tail named "Chief" is a really great guy. I like him. Two of the other clerks are black guys. They are both some of the the meanest assholes I have ever met in my life. The problem with these two guys isn't that they are black, but it it that they are mean stupid assholes. They treat everybody like shit. There are a couple of the other clerks are white guys. But I really really don't know them, but the seem OK.
A lot of crack heads live in the hotel and most of them stay up all night making a lot of noise keeping me and other people awake. Also a few of the morons that live in the hotel like to listen to their TV's or Stero's all night again keeping the other people awake.
Sleeping on the Canal Banks
To save money I decided to move out and live on the street. On great place I have found is to live on the canal banks of the Salt River Project Canals. The canals all have signs posted saying that you may use them "at your own risk". The good thing about these signs is they say in around about way that your not tresspassing if you sleep on the canal banks.
The only problem with sleeping on the ground is it gets cold. I have found a freeway that goes over one of the canals and I have been sleeping there. The freeway overpass seems to make the area I sleep warmer. The only real problem is it's a little bit noisey. But I have not have any problems sleeping.
Now when it comes to my sleeping arangements they seem to have stabalized. I sleep on the canal. I get a good nights sleep, and the cops have not shacken me down yet.
Some of my campsites on the Arizona Canal:
Problems - keeping clean
The only real problem with living on the canal is I don't have any where to take a show and get clean. I can wash my face and hands in gas stations. I think I will check out the homeless shelter and the Salvation Army to see if I can find a place to take a shower. Perhaps I can take a show at a city pool? I have to check that out.Need a job
My last problem is I need a job. My last job two and a half years ago I was making fairly good money. I was getting $75 an hour writting software at CISCO. That was about $3,000 a week for a 40 hours week. But in San Jose things are expensive. I was staying in the dumpy hotels which cost $80 a night. But despite that the pay was reasonable. But I have been unemployed since then. And the demand for software engineers and computer programmers is almost zeros now.Back in January of 2001 right before everything crashed there used to be 3 to 5 pages of ads every week in the Arizona Republic Sunday paper for computer jobs, and another 3 to 5 pages of ads for engineering jobs, and maybe a page of ads in the technical jobs section. Now every week there is one to three columns of ads in each of these sections. Three columns of ads don't even cover a fifth of a page of the newspaper. With this in mind I don't think I will be able to get an engineering or computer job that pays well and will have to take some stinking job doing manual labor that pays minimun wage.
. . . . . . . . .I'm in city bus crash
On Friday May 23, 2003 at about 8:40 p.m. I got on the Red Line Bus at Apache Blvd and College next to ASU. The bus seemed to be maybe 10 minutes late. I was heading home to go to sleep in my home on the canal banks and the city bus crashed before I got home.At Mill Avenue and University a young lady got on the bus and she asked the driver of the bus for directions on how to get to the Hard Rock Cafe after she got off the bus in downtown Phoenix. She looked like a snow bird cuz she had fair white skin and I suspect she was taking the tourist spots. She had on one of those lacy see thru tops on. She also told the bus driver the time that the last bus leaves Phoenix and goes back to Tempe and asked him to verify that. He said she was correct.
In Sky Harbor Airport at about 9:30 p.m. just before 24th Street a car pulled right in front of the bus and got squished by the bus.
I just jerked forwared a little. I was bracking my self with my left hand. I did't get hurt.
A man standing at the front of the bus fell down. He said he was not hurt but he didn't ever get up. I think he was later taken to the hospital.
Since I have had my civil right violated so many times by crooked police officers I decide to leave the bus so I would not give the government goons the opertuantity to question me. My orginal plan was to tell the police I was going to refuse to answer any of their questions and take the 5th.
A young girl with a nice set of boobs who was sitting across from me also left the bus. She seemed terrified of dealing with government goons too. I walked down to 24th Street with her.
An employee of the airport that road his bike to the 24th street bus stop told me it was a City of Phoenix truck that crashed into my bus. The driver of the truck was injured and taken to the hospital. He also said a 2nd person was taken to the hospital.
The 24th street bus picked us up late about maybe 9:45 or 9:50, I was pissed because it was supposed to be at Van Buren at 9:38 and it had not even gotten to Buckeye which is a mile south of there by that time
Went to my 1st party since I became homeless
Saturday, May 24, 2003 I went to a Libertarian Party in Ahwatukee which is a section of Phoenix on the south side of South Phoenix. The home was near 24th Street and Chandler Blvd.To clean up I went to the Tempe Swimming Pool at Clark Park between Roosevelt and McKermy and between 17th Street and 19th Street and they let me in for free so I could take a shower. I then went to Mesa and Pat one of my COPWATCH friends gave me a ride to the party.
It was a pretty good party. The only downside is that the owner of the home requested that nobody bring any drugs. So I didn't get to smoke any killer weed.
Also my friend Grey showed I up. I invited him when he bought me lunch at China Village a couple of weeks ago. I didn't think he would show up but he did. Grey fit in well because he is a Democrat and the wife of the host is also a Democrat.
After the party Pat let me sleep at his house. It was the first time in a while that I slept with a roof over my head.
This homeless person is a on a Talk Radio Show
Homeless people are not often guests on talk radio shows but today on Monday, June 23, 2003 I on a talk Radio show.Currently I am suing two crooked government thugs who work as police officers for the City of Tempe for false arrest and that was the subject of Ernie's show today. I think Ernie titled the show
What to do when the jackbooted government thugs demand your ID and you refuseI was falsely arrested by these crooked Tempe Police officers because I refused to tell them my name and refused to give them a "Government Issued Photo ID". Details about my lawsuit can be seen at http://bad_tempe_cop.tripod.comIt was the first time I had ever been on a radio show and it was fun. I think Ernie covered the subject rather well.
Rick D. called in and talked about the Brassroots incident on Mill Avenue back in 1999 where the Tempe police violated the civil rights of some gun owneres. Mike R. called in and talked about the evil DTC or Downtown Tempe Community. The DTC is a trick the City of Tempe uses to try to get out of obeying the law by mixing government and business and business and government. I think that is fasism.
This is some of the stuff I wanted to talk about but we did't have time to talk about on Ernie's show.
It fun being on the show. And time goes fast when your having fun. While we were there two hours it only seemed like 15 minutes.
Gotta quit sleeping with the pigeons
Pigeon shit can kill you or make you sick says this article. I have to quit sleeping under the freeway bridge where all the pigeons live.
Desert Plants
Creosote Bush and Brittlebush
On Sunday June 22, 2003 the day before I went on Ernie's radio show I went hiking in the desert in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and hiked from 16th Street and Northern to 32nd Street near Shea Blvd.I noticed the two most common plants which are almost everywhere but I didn't know there names.
Last Friday June 27, 2003 I went hiking again with Vin and we hiked up North Mountain starting at 7th Avenue and Dunlap. Vin told me the two plants I saw were the Creosote Bush and the Brittlebush.
The creosote bush is everywhere and it can grow to be up to 12 feet tall. When it smells after raining in the desert the smell is from the creosote bush. The creosote bush puts out a chemical that prevents other plants from growing nearby.
The brittlebush is a plant that can grow up to 4 feet tall. When it is not dry it has grayish, greenish leaves that have a velvety texture and look like cloth. Its very common and its everywhere like the creosote bush.
Vin said that along with the saguaro cactus and the palo verde tree these plants are the four most common plants in the Sonoran Desert.
Something crawled up my pants and bit me
On a Monday around July 1 in the middle of the night I woke up and felt something creepy in my pants.Instintivelly I smacked it and it bit me as it ran out of my pants. I suspect it was a cockroach or mouse. Hope I don't get rabies out of this.
July 4th Fireworks
On Friday, July 4th, 2003 I went to the fireworks at Steele Indian School Park on Indian School Road and Central Avenue in Phoenix. The fireworks were pretty cool and it appeared that they were using a computer to time the firing of fireworks.
I walked home about 5 miles because the busses don't run past 9 p.m. on holidays. Man I was out of shape and it killed me. My legs died. I was in so much pain I decided to skip Joels COPWATCH party, because if I went I would have had to walk seven miles to get home.
Attacked by birds
On Tuesday, July 8, 2003 I went to the Federal Court house to do some paper work on my lawsuit suing two Tempe Police Officers. Then I went down to the Maricopa County Court House to do some more work on serving the two crooked pigs at their homes.I was sleeping in Patriots Square on Central and Jefferson when I was attacked by a pigeon. I was sleeping and felt someone tapping on my hand. I though it was a government goon trying to wake me up. But when I looked it was a pigeon pecking on one of my left hand fingers with his beak.
I chased the bird off and attacked it with my sandle which missed.
Full Moon
At night I sleep on some concrete near the canal. A lot of people use the canal as a bike path or jogging path but when its dark they can't see me.But it get scarry when their is a full moon out at night. That is because the full moon shines so much light that its easy for the joggers and bikers to see me as I sleep at night. Sometimes I am afraid that I will be robbed or killed as I'm sleeping. Until I started living on the streets I did not know how much light a full moon puts out. It's enough to cast a nice dark shadow of me when I am standing up. It also is bright enough for people to see me as they walk by.
Tempe Police don't obey the law
Currently in my lawsuit where I'm suing the Tempe police I am trying to get the full names of the cops who falsely arrested me but the Tempe Police refuse to obey Arizona's Public Records law and give me the information. ARS 39 says the government has to give you all the public information about cops execptThe Tempe pig are refusing to give me ANY of the information I requested. And all I am requesting is the middle names of the pigs that falsely arrested me.
- their home address
- their home telephone number
- if they are an undercover cop their photo
It's hot and I like it
I will take hot weather over cold weather any day of the year so I like it right now. Yesterday it got to 116.Prior to being homeless I always had a bed or something to sleep on and the heat didn't really effect me.
How that I'm homeless I am sleeping in a concrete flood control ditch and when I go to sleep at night my concrete bed is very hot, too hot! But usually by 11 p.m. it cools down and I can go to sleep.
Now I live in Arizona and we really don't have any humidity so 116 or even 100 is not as bad as it sounds. 100 is warm, and 116 is hot. But since there is really not humidity its not that bad. When I lived in Quad Cities in East Moline it got up to 98 degrees with 98 percent humidity and that was worse then 118 in Phoenix, lots worse.
But still I love hot weather and will take this hot weather any day over cold weather. I dread looking foward to October when it starts getting cold and dropping under a 100.
My lawsuit in the federal courts
I don't think there are a lot of homeless people suing the police in the Federal Court system but I am one of them.I am suing two Tempe cops because they falsely arrested me for refusing to tell them who I was and refusing to give them any identification.
At the entrace to the Phoenix Federal Court house is a big sign that says
You must show a government issued photo ID before being allowed to enter the court house.Of course since my lawsuit is all about refusing to give government goons any stinking ID I have refused to give them any ID each time I have entered the court house. Today I went down again and files the papers that will be used by the Federal Marshals to server the Tempe Police Officers I am suing with their copy of the lawsuit. When entering the court house I again told the gaurd I didn't have any ID and they again let me in. I think they are getting used to me.
Babe on Mill with China food
Friday, July 18, 2003 I saw a godess leaving the Bamboo Club China food place and check her out. For some reason it seemed like she was checking me out too. When I came out of Borders she asked me if I was hungry and wanted some food.
I said no I wasn't hungry. I also showed her my papads. Too bad she said she didn't like hot china food. Just regular china food.
I told her I would take her food and give it to some homeless people. I took the food which was some type of orange chicken to the bus stop and gave it to some homeless guy.
Bitten by a centiped
On Sunday Morning, July 20, 2003 I woke up early in the morning after being bitten on the back by a centi-ped or something other evil. It was a very painful bite on my back. When I jumped up I found a slimy slithering insect maybe 5 to 6 inches long under my body. I smaked it with my hat knocking it into the flood control ditch. I looked like a centi-ped or milli-ped.The damage to me was not that bad. It's 1:30 p.m. the same day and I don't feel the wound any more.
I'm the victim in a hit and run accident
On Wednedsday July 23, 2003 at about 9:45 p.m. I was the victim in a hit and run accident. I didn't get hurt at all execpt for some minor aches to my arm.Pin the mustache on the pig contest
Saturday, July 26, 2003 Phoenix COPWATCH had a party to raise money. The theme wasPin the mustache on the pigto honor Arizona's most hated pig Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. It was at a house on 28th Street and Oak in central Phoenix. Cool party. I walked home.Monday July 28, 2003 - It's cold out
The last day I was cold was the day before memorial day which was Friday, May 23. Back about then when the highs were around 100° F season is here and it gets cloudy and cold. Well cold by Arizona standards. Last week it was pretty much in the 110° F degree range for each day. Nice and hot is how I like it. Today it only got to 100° F maybe 98° F but with the Monsoon humidity it felt warmer. Still I froze to death when I slept this night. The wind was blowing and it seemed real cold. I left my usual spot on the canal bank and went to sleep under the freeway to keep out of the wind. Also there were several barking dogs that kept me from sleeping tonight. I moved a mile west of my usual spot where I sleep on the canal.
Sleeping thru my first Monsoon
A couple rinky dink monsoons have blown into the Valley with a light lightning and rain but nothing to make me worry about. Seveal times I have moved from my canal bank to the freeway underpass to get out of the rain. But today the first real big monsoon blew in. I got soaked by the rain and had to sleep under the freeway underpass all night to keep out of the rain and lighting. Read it about it in monsoon.htmlBitten by a centiped - revenge
Wed, July 30, 2003
As I was walking along the canal I found one of those damm centipeds or what ever that bit me the other day while I was sleeping. Man in the daylight when you can see them they are ugly and mean looking. I killed the evil looking thing to get revenge for the one that bit me a few days ago.
Phoenix Art Museum
On Thursdays the Phoenix Art Museum lets you in FREE and its open extra long hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Its in the old Phoenix Library building on the northeast corner of McDowell and Central Avenue in Phoenix.I want on Aug 7, 2003. If a private business were to waste money on all the things in the Phoenix Art Museum I wouldn't mind it. But its sad that the taxpayers are forced to pay money for all the worthless shit in the Phoenix Art Museum
They had several titty photos and pictures. Not that I really liked them, I would prefer better quality porn from an adult magazine if I was buying dirty photos. But still a waste of our tax dollars.
I guess weather art is good or bad is in the eye of the person looking at it. I though some of the stuff was good, some was bad, and all of it was a waste of the taxpayers money.
They had way too many things on the Christian religion. I always thought that church and state were supposed to be seperate but I guess the people who run the City of Phoenix don't think they have to obey the First Admenment.
The did have a few cool bronze Hindu statutes of the Hindu gods in war mode with many arms and a different weapon in each hand. I have never seen a Hindu statute with so many arms before.
They also had a display from Japan with kimono's pretty cool stuff since my sister used live in Japan. I liked the silk cacoons. They look like the styrofoam peanuts that are used in packing stuff, but the people in Japan unwind the silk threads from the cacoons and use it to make silk stuff.
The bats are out tonight
Wed, Aug 13, 2003. I was sitting on the canal bank tonight and I saw a large number of bats flying around. I think they are bats. They are small animals and it looks like they are catching insects. And they fly in lots of really tight loops and patterns. I don't think bats attack humans so I didn't worry about them. It's Tuesday, Aug 19 and it seems the bats have gone away. No more bats flying above the canal. When I was in Tucson I know the bats that live on Broadway Road by Sabino Canyon (?) all fly south for the winter. I suspect the ones in Phoenix do the same.
The bats live in a man made tunnel or cave that runs from 40th street to 24th Street along the Arizona Canal. For directions to the bat cave click here and photos of the bat cave.
Chiggers - Maybe?
Since I became homeless I have gotten some horrible itching and bitting pain in my crotch area. Perhaps its chiggers. It is very painful. I scratch it a lot. (Note as of October it seems the chiggers or whatever evil bugs invaded my crotch have left. I no longer have to scratch my private parts or have biting pain their).Gasoline shortage
Sunday Aug 17, 2003 a very interesting week. There is a gas shortage in Phoenix because the pipeline which moves about one third of the gasoline used in the Valley from El Paso, Texas to Phoenix is busted in Tucson (the other two thirds of the Phoenix Metro's gasoline comes from a pipeline that goes from Los Angeles to Yuma, and then to Phoenix). The pipeline was leaking in Tucson and they have to fix and test it. As of Monday most gas stations are out of fuel and there are long lines at the few gas stations that do have gas. As I rode the bus Monday I saw the effects. Also people are following gas trucks around to find gas. I was at a gas station on 16th Street and Glendale which was out of gas, while I was there a gas truck arrived to resupply it and with in minutes there were long lines of cars waiting for the station to sell gas. The people at the station said it would take between a half hour to an hour after the truck arrived to be able to sell gas. Here is the story no_gas_in_phoenix.html.Why vote Libertarian
Why vote Libertarian?? This is why!Ashcroft, Bush and others want to screw the Bill of Rights
Mesa pigs murder 15 year old
The Mesa police murdered a 15 year old child when the kids parents call them when the child was being weird. The pigs shot and kill the kid. 10 bullets hit the child. 9 of the bullets were found in the kids body. The child had a knife and its police policy to kill anyone who gets within 21 feet of a cop with a knife. Well they word it slightly different, but thats still the effective police. Its almost getting cold
Sept 4, 2003. Summer is almost over and its almost getting cold. Yesterday it was probably 110° out but still the mornings are getting colder. In a few days I will have to start wearing long pants and long sleaves when I sleep.Headache for 2 days
I have had a head ache for two days. Do I have the evil enciplitics diese from getting bit by mosquitos? Who knows? If this web pages continues to get stuff added you will know I didn't die from it.That was a while ago, and I don't think I caught it that time but I may have it now. Its Friday Sept 19, 2003 and I have had flu like symptoms since Monday. I think I have the West Nile Virus. If I die in the next couple of days this web page will cease to be updated.
Well its Oct 17, 2003 and I still have not died of the West Nile Virus. But still I think I'm the first person in Arizona to catch the West Nile Virus.
Looking for a minimun wage job
Oct 13, 2003 I applyed for a minimun wage job and got an interview at Home Depot. They have not come back and offered me a job. They said they filled all the jobs. I also interviewed last week for an engineering job which would be great to get but as of Friday Oct 17 they have not called and I don't think I got the job.Heat Wave - Oct 21, 2003
Well I think the days are real nice but I like 100° F weather (thats 37° C for the rest of the world). The newspaper says we are having a heatwave but if you ask me its getting too cold at night. As I am homeless I sleep outside, and usually wake up cold in the middle of the night. When that happens I walk down to the freeway and sleep under the overpass where its a little warmer. At this point in time I am wearing long pants and a long sleave shirt. I stopped wearing shorts about a week ago when I went on an interview at Home Depot.I win $10,000 in lawsuit
Well it sounds great but isn't. I just won $10,000 in a lawsuit. But the bad news is it will all be used to pay the medical bills and the lawyers. And I won't get a penny of it.The bad news is that their insuranse policy only gives $10,000 for dog bites. They lawyer said if their policy didn't have that limit he could have easily gotten me $50K or $100K and their insuranse policy would have paid for it.
While they have a home that I could sue them an seize to pay for my medical bills and expenses the lawyer says Arizona laws keeps me from taking the first $100K. So even if they own their home free and clear and its worth about $130K and we sue and win we only get $30K under Arizona law. And they probably don't own their home free and clear which means we would get next nothing considering the Arizona law that says they don't have to pay the first $100K.
A check for $1,000. Thats helpful!
I got some good news today when I went by my lawyers office. The insurance company gave me a check for $1,000. Thats nice I will be able to eat for a few more weeks with out having to go to the soup kitchens at the homeless shelters.McDonalds 54¢ coke
Today I found out why sometimes they charge me 54 cents for a coke when I go to some Mc Donalds. Since I'm homeless and poor I should order the "Senors Coke" everyday and see if I can always get the 54¢ coke.Time to get out the coat, its winter
Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - For the last 3 days I have woken up in the morning freezing cold (well by Arizona standards) between 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. While its getting into the 100°'s in the day and its nice the nights are just too cold. Last night I wore a sweater, long sleeve shirt, and a t-shirt. It was still too cold. I guess I will get my down coat out of storage today and sleep in it. The lows in Phoenix for the last 3 days were in the high 60°s. Fridays low is expected to be in the 50°s; and that will freeze my butt off.Sadly I don't think it will get warm again until next year around April when 100° weather comes back to Phoenix. I guess it's freeze my butt off till then.
Wild Fires in California
While we have our forest fires in the summer time they have them this time of year in Souther California. Seems like all of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Berdo, and San Diego Counties are on fire this week. Homes are being burnt and the fires have killed about 15 people so far. Check out wild_fires.html.I would love a turkey dinner
Baked turkeys are one of my favorite foods. I would love a juicy baked turkey dinner. I am an atheist and don't celebrate Thanksgiving for that reason. I also am not a government worshiper and don't celebrate Thanksgiving for that reason either. It seems like Thanksgiving has evolved into a religious goverment holiday where goverment worshipers and christians celebrate the holiday to worship the goverment and their Christian god.I do like Thanksgiving because every body eats TURKEY on the holiday. I went to the homeless thanksgiving dinner this year to get my turkey. It was at a nice hotel on 1st street and Monroe in downtown Phoenix. The Salvation Army put the event on. Despite the huge line the food was served rather quickly. I waited maybe 5 minutes to get in and several minutes more to get served.
The good news is the food was free. The bad news the turkey was industrial strenth turkey canned turkey that didn't taste very good. It was ediable, but not great. The other food was ok. Everybody got turkey, green beans, mashed potatos, milk, ice cream, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. I didn't eat the stuffing or the pumpkin pie.
It's colder then krap now
Its December 1, 2003 and it's now colder then krap in Phoenix. To keep warm at night I am wearing a pair of levis which are ful of holes, a pair of thermal underware pants, a thermal underware t-shirt, a cotton t-shirt, a cotton long sleeve shirt, two sweaters, and my down coat. I am even wearing shoes and soxs which I never wear. Now I usually wake several times in the morning any where between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. being freezing cold. I usually go to McDonalds at 5:30 a.m. when it opens to get out of the cold. I read the newspaper and get a coke.Since I wake up early in the morning because of the cold I usually am tired in the day and take a nap in either Encanto Park or the Steele Indian School Park to recover from being woke up early.
Chroniclly Homeless Poeple
There are several other homeless people in the area:I don't know much about the guy on the bike execpt he camps out down the street from me every night and sleeps in a hamock. He parks his bike next to his camp. On his bike he has a 5 gallon paint bucket.
- The guy on the bike
- The couple with the shopping carts
- The guy with the crutches
- The red haired lady
- The other guy who is at McDOnalds all the time
The couple with the shopping carts have been homeless for years. I don't know much about them execpt that I have seen them for years camping out. They seem to move their camping location a lot. When it rains they move and sleep under the freeway near me.
I see the guy on crutches at McDonalds and on the bus. I suspect he has some type of income, goverment pension or welfare because he has money to buy food and bus passes. But I suspect he is homeless because he is always carrying his stuff with him, and because I see him almost every day at McDonalds. He probably doesn't have enough income to rent a home. I have no idea where this guy camps out at. I just see him on the streets a lot and assume he is homeless like me.
The red haired lady is probably in the same boat as the guy with crutches. I see her a lot on the bus, or in McDonalds. She probably has some type of income. At least enough income to get a bus pass every month, and enought money to eat sometimes at McDonalds. She also begs a lot. She has asked me a few times for money and cigrarettes. I have no idea where this lady camps out at. I just see her on the streets a lot and assume she is homeless like me.
THeir is an other guy who appears to be homeless too that I see at McDonalds all the time. At first I thought he may be the guy in the guy and girl who have camped on the canal for years. But he isn't. One day I say him by the gas station on 16th Street and Glendale, and then a few minutes walked by the guy and the girl who were camped under the freeway.
Mars and the Moon
Since I live out side and look at the sky every night I am learning a little about the solar system. The moon's orbit is 5 degrees and 20 minutes off of the earths orbit. That's why we don't have eclipses every month when the moon moves in front of earth. I beleive the moon is 250,000 miles from the earth. I read all that stuff in a book.
The moon disappears for a while (a few days) and then starts appearing in the west. As the moon gets fuller it moves to the east part of the sky, becomes full and eventually disappears into the eastern sky. And then the cycle starts over. I think its a 28 or 29 day cycle. I like it best when we have NO MOON. I feel safer because its harder to see me.
When I first noticed Mars it was in the center of the sky. As the months move on Mars is slowly moving to the western part of the sky.
That's because earth orbits the sun in 1 year, while it takes much longer for Mars to orbit the sun. What's happening is that Earth is racing past Mars in its orbit and thats why Mars is moving to the western sky as time goes on. I suspect over time Mars will disappear because at some point in time the Earth will be on the other side of the sun, and it will be impossilbe to see Mars because the sun is too bright.
Yes I read books at the library, Brarns and Noble, and Book Star to learn more about what I am seeing in the skys while I am homeless.
The NASTY flu in 2003/2004
Wednesday, Dec 10th at 3:00pm before I went on this unusual daytime copwatch patrol i caught the flu. While the newspapers said this years version of the flu would be the worst in 30 or maybe even 50 years it was a bunch of bull as this doctor says.
I had the flu for a week. It was very mild and i recovered after a week. The main symptom was I was very TIRED. I also had a few aches and pains, but not many. And I also had a few coughs, again not many though.
The only thing I did was stop drinking beer at night, go to be early, and ate a better diet.
On Saturday, Jan 10, 2004 I met a lady at the bus station who said she got the flu this year. She said it was a killer flu and made her very sick. So who knows maybe I either got a mild case of the flu, or maybe I was on drugs and really had a cold. Oddly as of Jan 10, 2004 the government and related so called medical experts are saying the flu season is over, and that despite their predictions that it would be the worst flu in years said that all in all it was a pretty mild flu. A lession to learn here??? Damn right! Never trust the government.
An interesting note is the lady I met at the Scottsdale bus station is also suing the pigs for civil rights violations just like me. She is suing the Phoenix Police in Federal Court also for Title 43 Section 1983 civil rights violations. I forget her story but I think she got falsely arrested.
This lady also mentioned in our talk that she watched the Phoenix Police murder Edward Mallet. She told me she was watching them beat this guy and she told them that they didn't have to beat him that much. She said she also called the Arizona Republic to tell them she was a witness but that they never called her back.
It's COLD!!!! Time to break out the sleeping bag
On Thursday Dec 11th I got my sleeping bag out of my locker and am sleeping in it because I just got the flu. And also because it's starting to get very cold out. My sleeping bag makes it nice and warm and I am not cold at all during the nights. Thats despite the fact my sleeping bag is missing its zipper.Phoenix pig violates my civil rights
On Sunday Dec 21, 2003 at about 10:30 p.m pm I was falsely arrested by a Phoenix pig for camping on the canel. He was just shaking me down because I was a homeless person. I will sue this crooked pig in federal court for violating my civil rights. This stupid pig will learn not to f*ck with homeless people that know how to file lawsuits in federal court. As usual I pissed off the pig by invoking the 5th Amendment and refusing to tell him my name or answer his questions. He didn't go balistic as most pigs. He accused me of hating pigs. I don't him I didn't hate law abiding ethical pigs who obey the constitution.
The bastard said I was violating Phoenix City Code 23-30 which says its illegal to sleep on the City of Phoenix's property. Only one problem I was not sleeping "Phoenix Land". I was sleeping on the property of the Maricopa County Flood Control District. Little does this crooked pig know that in a few weeks I will punch him in the face with a law suit in federal court for violating my civil rights.
I have a new home
Well for a homeless person I have a new place to live. After the pig violated my civil rights I have moved down the road maybe 8 to 10 miles and kinda sort of live by the canal. First I started sleeping next to a SRP irrigation box. But then I found a cool place next to a block fence hidden by some tumbleweeds where I can sleep with out fear of being seen by people that drive or walk by. My old home was on Maryland and 20th Street. I am now living on ***rd Avenue and D*******p.It's raining in Phoenix
On Tuesday night December 23 or Wednesday morning December 24 it was raining out side. Same for Friday morning December 26. I have been sleeping up near Dunlap and 23 Avenue by the canal and each time I woke up to the sound of rain drops beating down on my sleeping bag. Both days my sleeping bag has gotten wet, but not wet enough to cause major problems. I am too far from any bridges or other places to take cover from the rain so I just hang out in my sleeping bag praying (well not really) that it won't rain enough to soak my sleeping bag.Singing homeless Christmas carols on Christmas Eve
There is a homeless protest against the Tempe City Goverment at 7pm on Christmas Eve where people are going to protest the way the City of Tempe tries to jail homeless people. They plan to:We will carol on Mill and proceed to Mayor Guliano's house to sing radical Christmas Carols and spread the Christmas spirit.I wanted to go but didn't because I didn't feel like dragging my sleeping bag around with me. For useless information Mayor Guliano's is a queer who treats homeless queers like sh*t.Christmas 2003 I'm Homeless
Like I give a rats ass since I'm an atheist and don't beleive in the mythical Jesus god. But its the first Christmas I have been homeless. The only problem is all the stores are closed and its hard to find a place to buy food for meals Christmas and Thanksgiving. After waking up from my camp on the canal I took 23rd Avenue to Dunlap, from their I walked to 19th Avenue and there I took the bus to McDonalds on Northern & 19th Avenue but it was closed. I walked a mile BACK to Jack in the Box on 19th Avenue & Dunlap where I bought a coke and read the newspaper. The only bad news was Jack in the Crack shakes you down for $1.39 for a coke while McDonalds only shakes you down for $1.08.
I got breakfast at the Circle K next door and ate a 79¢ hot dog which is 85¢s after the government shakes you down with their taxes.
Then I walked up along 19th Avenue to the canal at 19th Avenue & Hatcher. I then followed the Arizona Canal to the Cavecreek flood control ditch. I walked north along the Cavecreek flood control ditch to Peoria Avenue. Then walked east to 19th Avenue and Peoria to a Circle K. Their I ate a burrito for lunch.
Next I walked back to the CaveCreek flood control ditch and walked north to Cactus Road along the east side of the flood control ditch. Then I back tracked and walked south along the west side of the Cave Creek flood control ditch to Rose Mofford Park. I hung out at the baseball park by some stupid exersize machines for maybe an hour, drank some water. Tried to take a krap but the goverment buerocrats took the day off and the toilets were closed. Then I walked south back to the Arizona Canal which I again took to 19th Avenue from where I walked back to Dunlap and 19th Avenue where I got dinner which was a poor boy sandwich at Circle K. Some guy gave me a $1 and I used it to buy a coke to go with my dinner.
At the Mexican food joint on 19th Avenue & Dunlap I read the Spanish language weekly newspaper La Prensa. I was suprized to see and article with John Semmens in it about the stupid light rail project which will be a financial disastor.
After that I went back to the Arizona canal and followed it past the City of Phoenix water treatment plant and just dreamed of the things terrorists could do to that unprotected government lot. When I got to the park on 35th Avenue which I think it Cortez Park I hung out their for a while. Then I walked to 43rd Avenue & Peoria along the canal. I then walked back along the north side of the flood control ditch to metro Center where I watched people on the roller coster at "castles & Costers" amusement park.
For a bedtime snack I got some cheetos and limonaide at the gas station on I-17 & Dunlap, and after that I went to bed near the canal and 23rd Avenue.
Well it was a better Christmas then if I was forced to go to church.
Frosty the Sleeping Bag
Since I started using a sleeping bag when I get up in the morning I have noticed that the top of the sleeping bag is covered with dew, humidity, or water. I suspect it's because with my body is generating heat which makes my sleeping bag the warmest place around and the water or dew condenses on it because its warm. Today Monday morning December 29, 2003 when I got up the bottom part of my sleeping bag by my feet was covered with frost. Well I guess its really cold outside. Yesterday at the libraray on the internet the weather service issued a freeze warning for the Phoenix area. Hope my toes don't get frost bitten. Its 11:30 a.m. on the same day and my toes feel ok. I guess I will buy another pair of socks to wear tonight to keep my toes nice and warm and keep away the frost biting monster. Well its good the bitter cold only lasted one day. Frost only covered my sleeping bag on one day and ever since while its been cold it has not been cold enough to have frost from on my sleeping bag. It's time for me to learn SAS
Since I get job offers all the time that want someone who knows SAS and UNIX maybe its time for me to learn SAS. Also Grey gets job offers all the time for him to do SAS on either IBM mainframes or UNIX machine machines maybe its time for me learn SAS.I started to learn SAS many years ago when I worked at Greyhound Bus Lines when I helped my friend I David with his JCL when he was using SAS to do accounting work. Also the systems programmers at Greyhound Corp used it to do a lot of sytems work.
For that matter when I was an evil government goon I remember a couple of guys I always was helping with their JCL and other things used SAS to do property tax or some type of other government stealing.
Bottom line LEARN SAS!!!
I had the lady at the Phoenix Library search the catalog for SAS books there and they had a number of them. It also seems there is a PC version of SAS.
I should also bug Grey for some books on mainframe SAS.
On Sat, Jan 10, 2004 I talked to Grey about borrowing his SAS books to learn SAS. He says you can BUY a PC version of SAS thats for LEARNING ONLY for $100 and use it to learn SAS. The only catch is that the $100 version of SAS can only process 1,000 records.
This sounds like the way to go.
I should also buy one of the OFFICIAL SAS books from the SAS Institute for $30 or $40 like I used to buy IBM manuals and use it to learn SAS.
For some computer geek stuff on SAS see: http://support.sas.com
I talked to Grey on the same day I met the lady who got the bad ass case of the flu at the Scottsdale bus station.
The Year 2004 will be continued on another page
Well in a few days it will be 2004 and the journey about me being homeless will continue on this page index_2004.html for the year 2004.CONTINUED
