Introduction to frequency scanning
First of all, you need a scanner, you can pick 'em up for around $700 at
dick smiths. Just dont get any of those crappy american models, coz they block
off the 800mhz and 900mhz ranges that are commonly used by cellphones and cordless,
uniden are the best. Also alot of their state police freqeuncies are blocked
too.
Frequency Range list mainly for NZ
Police UHF - 485.000mhz - 488.200mhz
Police VHF - 75.200mhz - 76.200mhz
Cordless Base - 30.75mhz - 30.775mhz
Cordless handset - 39.775mhz - 40.475mhz
Cellphones(025 analogue) 870.000mhz - 890.000mhz
Thats a breif run-down on all the interesting frequencies that are used in New Zealand, The police uhf is mainly used by the handsets that the police carry with them. VHF is the radios that are fitted into all the patrol cars, All the local police frequencies are linked together anyways, so if you can hear one, you can hear it all.
More Specific Frequencies that I know definatly work
485.225 - Palmerston North Police UHF Ch1
485.300 - Feilding and Masterton and probably lots of other towns
486.575 - PN ch2, and pahiatua, etc
487.375 - Special Ops
30.100 - my neighbours cordless(hehe)
