I believe this was all fully documented somewhere in the past... quartz.dll is one of the legacy DLL's from ActiveMovie.. (If I remember right from what I read, ActiveMovie became DirectDraw which then became part of DirectX). >Problems occur if CU-SeeMe 3.12 is installed on a system running >Windows 98 Second Edition or Media Player 6.4. I think I know people running Win98SE just fine with 3.1.2. http://support.wpine.com/cuwin/faq/cufaq085.htm is the only URL I could find that references it. >In both case, the level of Quartz.dll is not compatible with CU-SeeMe >3.12 and if Quartz.dll is not at the correct level (4.00.96.0730) USER >IS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANY VID. I didn't find any mention of 3.1.2 NOT working with a specific version of DirectX...You may try re-installing DirectX from Microsoft's site and see what that does. >The work around is to keep a copy of all versions in the Windows\System >directory : That's the hard way... Windows searches for DLLs in the current directory first...You can always keep the CU copy of quartz.dll in the location of the CU executables which need it. Then whenever you run CU, it picks up the quartz.dll in that directory rather than looking at the \windows\system directory. I still have trouble believing CU 3.1.2 doesn't work with the latest DirectX components. You might also try wiping the cuseeme.rol and *.crd files from the Windows System directory and reloading with the NEW quartz.dll...That'll recreate a lot of things. >Contacted by Email, White Pine answered solution is to upgrade to >CU-SeeMe Pro 4.01.
