Ed Cahill aka
Hosskop is my father in law. In 1993 he honored me by giving his
daughter Kris and I his blessings for marriage. I can still hear
myself stuttering as I asked him if he would allow me to marry
Kris.
Through
the years that have passed I learned much about this man and grew
to love him more everyday. Papa was funny, he loved to share
cornball jokes, you couldn't help but laugh thanks to his knack for
delivery. The cornier the joke the more Papa loved it. There is
another side of Papa most people didn't get to see, his family
side, I consider it a privilege to have been allowed to share his
home and more importantly his heart. I have a void in me right now
that is very wide and deep, the place vacated by his presence. I
know God can and will help us all heal from this loss, but I
honestly can't see it from where I stand right now. You see, Papa
filled a very large void in my life shortly after my Dad passed
away in 1992, for that caring, understanding love I will be
eternally grateful.
Ed
lived 65 wonderful years here, proudly married to Astrid for 43 years and
the father of 4 children he adored, his son Michael, his daughters
Denise, Kathy and Kristine and 9 grand kids. He lived his dream of
being a Police Officer, a job he was proud of to this day, and when
he retired in 1994 he lived his dream of owning a small horse
ranch. Papa was blessed, and though he was painfully private, he
knew the Lord Jesus and was thankful everyday for the blessings God
provided.
Truly
the blessings were ours, to have Papa in our lives is a gift that
could only have come from God. A strong provider, and a generous
heart.
When I
first brought a computer into the house Papa wasn't all that
interested, but shortly there after I built him one of his own.
From that day on Papa was anything but just another retired cop, he
was Hosskop! I had some experience building websites and Papa got
real interested in learning. He created the 1st Hosskop website in
1995 or 1996 and diligently and lovingly worked it until this
website became what it is today. He was very proud of all the
friends he made around the world, some he visited with locally and
some not so locally.
A
special note to Billy W; he loved you man, you were his best buddy.
To all his email and online friends we extend a special thank you
for the hours and days of joy Papa found corresponding with
y'all.
May God Bless
each and every one of you with His very best.
With Heartfelt Affection,
Doni
