Everyone sooner or later seems to have this question, "What does number "x" on the SMWS bottle mean?"  The SMWS reached agreement with the whisky industry to not overtly identify the specific distillery on the label of its bottlings.  So instead, the distillery is assigned a code number and each member of the society is given a decoder sheet. Invariably, a nonmember or a member who has lost their decoder sheet, wants to know what the distillery numbers are.  TO that end, here is the latest list of distillery codes for the SMWS bottlings:
