Sarah Bowman, harpist and Hovea Music Press editor
A gifted harpist, Sarah Bowman has both a bachelors and a
masters degree from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
She has performed in Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and the
Brooklyn Academy of Music; in Buffalo, and in Tokyo, Hiroshima and
Reykjavik. She has won the Helena Rubenstein Foundation Scholarship,
the Tanglewood Fellowship, the William Randolph Hearst Scholarship
and many more.
Sarah was a soloist for the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the New York Metamorphoses Orchestra and the Amherst Symphony Orchestra; and played in the tribute to John Cage at Carnegie Hall with the SEM Ensemble Orchestra. She has been harpist for European tours of the Broadway shows A Chorus Line and 42nd Street. She has appeared as a harpist on televsion in the soap opera Guiding Light and the educational show Behind the Scenes.
Since 1997 she has played harp with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, and in 1998 she played for the first Australian performance (in South Australia) of the complete Wagner four opera cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen.
