Yesterday, near 9:00 am eastern time, the world witnessed the first of the four hellish nightmares to take place on Sept. 11, 2001. As we know from the 24 hour plus coverage on practically every channel that has anything to do with news, we as a nation have seen these sick, evil and morbid events evolve before our shocked eyes, which believe me when I say mine should, by all medical definition, should of popped out of my own head. To think that people can have NO REGARD whatsoever, for human life. To take away innocent life from the world. But from those who are now gone, their families, friends and colleagues. It's just absolutely unbelievable. I was awakened by my brother that fateful day by his bitching for a T-shirt, and I had my radio on (I leave it on at night) and it was on Marc & Brian (DJ's out of LA) and I hear "Oh my God, the south tower of the World Trade Center has just collapsed." Being half out of it, and arguing with my brother, I seriously thought that this was some sort of joke, I mean Mark & Brian are the guys that pull prank phone calls on people, why would they do something as serious as this? But as I kept listening I finally realized who it was speaking, Peter Jennings. Now it must have been the truth, that man has been doing news broadcasts before I was even though of. I literally flew down stairs and turned on the TV and there it was, for all the world to see. Part of that amazing New York sky line was gone, as were possibly thousands, but hopefully not, of lives. The town of New York was shattered, but that did not last long. As I've continued to watch, New York has to be one of the most amazing, tight knit cities I've ever seen in my life. These people stand proud, and are taking action. Now what a great misfortune it is to take something like this to take place to bring those people, and the rest of the Nation closer together.

Now as we know that the attack on the World Trade Center had to be the most tragic, but also most twisted plan of attack ever taken upon this great country, we must have the misfortune as well to be forced to remember the third plane that crashed into the Pentagon, our nation's defense headquarters, and earlier today, we learned that the plane's original target was the White House itself. More senselessness took place yesterday and more innocent lives were forever lost to some demented man's beliefs, which from what I understand, are NOT violent in nature, but these men took their beliefs to the extreme. But as I heard today that people have attacked those who have the same beliefs are, in my eyes, horribly wrong. We must not hold all  the people of Arabic descent, just those that were apart, and condoned, the acts that happened yesterday.

Now, I know that everyone has heard this already, but I, and my family wish to send our condolences to those families in New York, Washington DC and to all those families who lost their loves ones in the fated planes. I just pray that these people who have been taken from us receive the justice they so rightly deserve. And, even though I live in Bakersfield, CA, practically 3,000 miles away from the tragedy, we have been hit hard as well. The safety that is associated with the United States of America has been greatly shaken. Because of fear of attacks on Los Angeles, our governor placed our entire state literally on lock down. I know that we may be on the other side of the nation, about two hours after all the attacks, our local news showed our blood banks full of donors. The lines outside both buildings. Like I said, it's too bad that our nation was brought together with these horrific events, but none the less, we have come together, we have stayed a nation. My generation has witnessed the Pearl Harbor of our times. We are living history. And, in my opinion, and may others I am sure, it's one helluva history that we have witnessed. I never thought, that I would see this EVER. America will triumph over this evil. We will continue to be free. We will overcome.

The city of Bakersfield sends it's hearts and prayers to those families who have suffered any kind of loss.

Thanks for letting me speak.
Hunter.
