May 14th, 2005 -  IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, Engine 511 and Tower 51 responded to a vehicle Fire inside fire station 20  in Bethesda to assist MCFRS crews. Engine 201 had caught fire after returning from an EMS call with Ambulance 519 on Old Georgetown Road. After pulling back into the station, heavy smoke appeared from the engine compartment of Engine 201. Tower 51 crews assisted Engine 201 crews extinguisher the fire with dry chemical fire extinguishers.


May 12th, 2005 -  IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, Engine  511 responded to a working House Fire in Kensignton (Station 5's area) to assist MCFRS crews. Engine 511 crews were first to arrive and stretched handlines and performed interior operations.


March 18th, 2005 -  IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 1, Tower 51 responded to a working House Fire in Glen Echo (Station 11's area) to assist MCFRS crews. Tower 51 crews were directed to side "C" for ventilation and overhaul in the area of fire origin.


March 10th, 2005 -  IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 1, responds to Gaithersburg Fire Station 8 with Tower 51 to cover the middle county area during 2 Alarm Restaurant Fire in Rockville, MD.


February 5th, 2005 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 1, responded on a working House Fire in Glen Echo. Tower 51 responded and assisted MCFRS crew in the battle to save the house.


January 27th, 2005 - The Members of Local F-271 Battle 3 Alarm Apartment fire in Rockville, MD.

December 11th, 2004 - The Members of Local F-271 would like to wish everyone a very safe, and happy holiday season!


December 3rd, 2004 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, responded on a 4 Alarm Warehouse fire in North Bethesda. Tower 51 responded and assisted MCFRS crew in the battle to save the shopping center.


November 29th, 2004 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, responded on a USAR Response Building Colpase at NIH Bethesda Campus.  MCFRS USAR crews along with other MCFRS and NIH FD support personell responded to the scene where 1 construction worker was killed.


February 25th, 2004 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, responded on a 2 Alarm Church fire in North Bethesda. Tower 51 responded and assisted MCFRS crew in the battle to save the historical church.


February 14th, 2004 - Local F-271 Firefighters respond to a 2 Alarm House fire in North Bethesda.


February 5th, 2004 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, responded on a Emergency Drill at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.


February 4th, 2004 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 1, responded to a working mid-rise apartment fire in the Pooks Hill section of Bethesda, Maryland.


February 1st, 2004 - IAFF Local F-271, Platoon 2, responded on to a working basement fire in Building 30 on NIH.


December 2nd, 2003 - Local F-271 Firefighters from Platoon #1 respond to a 2 Alarm Fatal house fire in Chevy Chase. Engine 511 was dispatched on the Task Force assignment. This fire also called upon two other Federal Fire Departments for assistance. Units from Bethesda Navy Medical Center, and Walter Reed Army medical Center responded. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


November 21st, 2003 - Local F-271 Firefighters finally move in to the new Fire Station. Station 51 is now located near the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Center Drive. Photo's are coming soon.


November 5th, 2003 - IAFF Local F-271 Members from Platoon 2, responded on a EMS Task Force at a construction site on the NIH Campus, Bethesda, Maryland. Tower 51 was placed in to service to use the basket to retrieve the victim from the 3rd floor of a construction site.


November 4th, 2003 - Local F-271 Firefighters make first rescue with Tower 51, in Silver Springs, Maryland.


September 22nd, 2003 - Local F-271 Firefighters respond to a working house fire in Bethesda, Maryland. Engine 511 arrived as 3 in engine and assisted in the interior fire fight and assisted MCFRS in extinguishing the fire.


February 22nd, 2003 - Platoon 2 Members of Local F-271 responded (on Engine 511) to a 2 Alarm working building fire at 4701 Willard Avenue in Bethesda. The fire was located in an energized transformer vault in the Garage Level 1 parking area, with 1 vehicle involved. Heavy smoke conditions were present throughout the entire parking area. Platoon 2 Members also responded Utility 51 to the scene with 50 ABC fire extinguishers to assist in combating the transformer fire. Members also assisted in the evacuation of the entire 19 story apartment building. An estimated 1,000 residents were evacuated by various fire crews from Montgomery, DC, and NIH Fire Departments.
