在生鏽了的克里夫蘭市（Cleveland位在美國大湖區到紐約州北方的生鏽帶”Rust Belt”上），這麼精緻、勇於創新、又熱誠的B-School絕對能讓你驚豔！這個以當地知名企業家 Albert J. Weatherhead為名的 B-School，正以它不斷湧出的創意、和勇於革新的魄力，向全美商業排名 top 20 的B-Schools挑戰。

Weatherhead對管理教育的理念與另一所明日之星，南美以美（SMU）的Cox School類似。這裡的課程成四個階段。新生入學後立刻進入管理評量與發展（Management Assessment and Development），類似南美以美Cox School的職業／人格生涯規劃的課程。在這部份，新生在教授、同學、企業導師的協助下，做一連串的性向測驗和presentations，由分析出的結果來了解自己的長處與缺點，再進一步擬定接下來的學習計劃（learning plan）。

根據每個學生不同的learning plan，新生進入第二個階段：必修課（core）。這是打基礎、溫故知新的階段，幫助你複習所有最基本的商業功能（business functions）。第三個階段稱為perspectives，也是Weatherhead Program與其他top B-School最大的不同處。這是一些銜接core與elective的課程，用不分科（interdisciplinary）與整合（integrated）的方式，加入全球性的（globalized）議題，對必修課做一個整合，也對最後一部份的選修做一個銜接。課程的最後一部份是選修，在超過十個主修的功能性領域中，你可以根據自身的性向自由選修。進入選修前後，Weatherhead的企業導師制度將發揮功能，協助你將課堂上學到的死知識，成功地過渡到真實企業界的活用技能。

課程的創新不僅止於在必修、選修之外加入性向測驗、企業導師制、或整合的Perspectives課程。許多課程不是光『教授講課，你考期中、期末考』就算了，你的優、缺點，上台報告的表現，領導能力、企業潛力、和決策能力都會被搬到檯面上，不論是用實況錄影、表格、還是書面報告的形式！在這種方式下，如果做不到一次比一次進步，你應該要開始擔心期末成績和畢業後的出路。

大學部唸商的學生，可以免修大部份的必修課，在十二個月之內拿到學位。非商科的學生則一定要兩年才能取得學位。這裡有一大群在當地上班的兼職學生，使得不到一百五十名的全職學生成為少數民族。但他們是超過六十五名的終身全職教授們注目的焦點。而以全職的學生和全職的教授來算師生比例，可以確定這裡的教學品質與學生所受到的照顧是多麼與眾不同。

克里夫蘭到底是個怎樣的地方？這裡沒有安娜堡、柏克萊的出眾氣質，感受不到紐約和芝加哥的活力，當然，也沒有UCLA的海灘和劍橋的學術。但是，Case Western Reserve的學生只要扭開音響就能聽到全球聞名的Cleveland Symphony Orchestra所演奏的天籟，花不到十元美金就能看到全國棒球聯盟的年度大賽。而克里夫蘭市也正努力地擺脫生鏽（Rust Belt)的形象。目前位於城東的校區已逐漸形成了一個大學圈（University Circle），原先存在此地的高犯罪率也正在改善中。

彈性、創新、勇於改變、熱誠，Weatherhead的諸多優點仍然尚未使他突破『明日之星』，晉入top 20。每年只有一百多名全職的畢業生，也吸引不了太多大企業前來徵才。不過，根據教務長Scott Cowen的說法，只要你願意一直『領導潮流』，總有一
天，你就成了『時代潮流』！

The "Management Assessment and Development" program provided me with important feedback on a host of management skills. It forced me to take a hard introspective look at the areas in which I needed the most improvement, and helped shape my graduate studies.

A serious drawback I found in the classroom was the lack of work experience among my classmates. Unfortunately, I learned little from them. The benefits of a diverse student body, with a high percentage of Asian students, were rarely achieved due to language barriers. Non-U.S. students rarely spoke in class. I learned next to nothing about Asian management / business practices.

I was thrilled to be a part of Weatherhead experience. The students are here to learn. The support and cooperation among student is outstanding. Almost all classes emphasize teamwork. Student opinion is asked for, and changes, whenever possible, are made. The faculty is available, and very helpful outside class. The curriculum is undergoing some changes, and students are actively involved.
