TGIT(Thank God is Thurs- day)!
One of the program's strongest features was its emphasis on teamwork among students. That's not to say that my peers weren't competitive -- they were. But the competition was productive. Everyone was good about sharing information and working together as a team. In the business world, working well with others is one of the most important skills you can have.
I expected the MBA Program to be intellectually challenging and the work to be demanding and time-consuming. What I didn't anticipate was the amazing variety of people in my classes. Diversity is a word that is often overused, but there is no better way to describe my peers' range of talents and skills and their incredibly distinct political, cultural, and professional backgrounds. Despite our often very different goals, we were all brought together by the program, by our mutual desire to excel.
I was a member of the last class with a less integrated core. The class of 1995 has a much improved first year, with extensive integration and more focus on ethics, international business, and strategy. The most beneficial and surprising element of my experience was the cooperation and teamwork with other students.
My goal was to become a securities analyst and to do that I needed an MBA. I needed to broaden my knowledge of business and develop an understanding of how all the aspects of a corporation fit together. I needed the confidence that I could succeed at a demanding level. I chose Washington MBA because in here I was able to learn from my peers and, at the same time, test my ability to communicate and lead. If you can manage the bright and highly opinionated people who are drawn to the MBA Program, you can do almost anything.
