...Flag design is based on a small torn section of the regimental battle flag which is on display in the Confederate Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana. May 19, 1865. When the 18th Regiment was disbanded the flag was torn into ten pieces and a piece given to each of the ten company commanders. (Placement of Battle Inscriptions is specualtive and based on similar Confederate battle flags of the same period.)

(Text of Letter)
New Orleans. 28 Sept. 1839
To E(lisha) Riggs Esq., New York
Dear Sir: I have settled with Bunker Wall & Co. for the note drawn by R. Bledsoe dated Natchez, 5 March 1836, at 3 years from George Rogers ind(ividual) and by Walt Burke &Co. and by yourself to Thomas Henderson Cashier. 5/8 March 1837 [Figures given] Int(erest) from & March to 28 Sept 204 days at 87 for sum of 15 of Natchez money for New Orleans... [More Figures]for which you have enclosed check of date of the Commercial Bank 3946 in your favor on the Bank of America, New York. [More Figures]I was promised this money last Monday, but have been allowed interest up to this date, which is something for the delay--
The discount allowed for Natchez money to equal New Orleans, makes a great deduction, but I thought it best to submit to it; Burke Watt & Co. would have allowed a suit to have been brought against them rather than scale otherwise and in that case there is no saying how the concern might stand when judgement was obtained.
I am with respect your obt. servent Benjamin Story
