Jimmy Page wrote and recorded the song Tangerine during his time in the Yardbirds. He later re-recorded it with Led Zeppelin. It was reportedly written about his co-writer and old flame Jackie DeShannon. Page and DeShannon wrote at least four songs together (I've Got My Tears To Remind Me, In My Time of Sorrow, Leaves Come Tumblin' Down, Stop That Girl), and Page played guitar on Jackie's recordings of Don't Turn Your Back On Me, Dream Boy and Be Good Baby. Jackie also supplied vocals on Keep Movin’, the b-side of Page's first single She Just Satisfies.
Tangerine
Measuring a summer's day,
I only finds it slips away to grey,
The hours, they bring me pain.
Tangerine,
Tangerine,
Living
reflection from a dream;
I was her
love, she was my queen,
And now a thousand years between.
Thinking how it used to be,
Does she still remember times like these
To think of us again?
And I do.
Tangerine,
Tangerine,
Living
reflection from a dream;
I was her
love, she was my queen,
And now a thousand years between.
