They were three very special girls...
Sofia Silva, Kristen
and Kati Lisk
The fourth will forever be a hero to us all!
It just goes to show... NEVER MESS WITH A SOUTHERN GIRL!
I went to school with Sofia Silva since I first moved to Spotsylvania Virginia in 1986. Since then I had at least one class with her every year up until 1997, after she was killed. We lived a mere two blocks away from each other until 1990 when my family moved into our own house. I wasn't her best friend or anything, but we knew each other enough to say hello in the halls. We were both managers of the boys basketball teams in high school too. I never posted anything here for them cause I had too may reasons not to: 1.) I didn't want the fame. 2.) I fit the profile of the three girls. 3.) I know and respect the two families far too much to get in the way.
There was just simply too much going on for me to respectfully try to handle it. No one here ever wanted to talk about it, and still no one does. It's almost as if it doesn't matter. But it matters to me, and 249 of my fellow graduates that would have graduated with Sofia Silva. Shortly after the Lisk sisters went missing and they were also found in a creek, far away. We all knew that they had something in common, we didn't need the police to tell us that. My biggest question has always been...
"Why? Why would you take them from us?"
But now that question will never be answered. Richard Marc Evonitz, the man who took them from us is dead... Why? Because of a 15 year old girl from South Carolina. Her bravery is indeed remarkable. If I was ever to meet her, I'd hug her and thank her for being so defiant. I'd thank her for letting us have our lives back! I'd hug her again for making me, a 22 year old woman, feel safe because of her bravery! I'd think of her as a sister, because she helped all of us learn what happened then, and helped two families learn who took their daughters. However unnamed she may be, we all are very grateful for her.
